For the record, my point wasn't to insult hockey, it was more to insult women's sports, so you still have every right to be pissed at me, I just want you to be pissed at me for the right reasons. What I meant was that hockey is clearly the 4th sport in the states. There's football, baseball, basketball.......a bit of a gap....and then hockey. It's as if hockey is the unwanted cousin in the family of sports. Then factor in that the game last night was women's hockey, and it's relevance is further extinguished. Before yelling at me for being a raging sexist, look at the NBA vs. WNBA. Last night was the WNBA championship, but with hockey.

That was my point, to rip on WOMEN'S hockey, rather than hockey itself. I enjoy the occasional hockey game, especially the men's games in the Olympics, and a few choice games in the NHL (when I know there'll be a fight).

I stand by the American beer comments though.

I'm not pissed at you. I didn't plan on yelling at you. I don't follow women's sports in general, mainly during the Olympics. I am not a feminist and if I were do you think I would enjoy posting on a male dominated site?

Male or female, most of the Olympians prepare for years and years to get where they are and it's something to admire.

You are critical of things you don't like or find irrelevant. You need to accept when others are critical of the things you like or find relevant.

Does anyone else hate how they say "Penalty to blank" when it's really against them? They said "Penalty to Finland" and I thought that the US committed a penalty, when it was really a penalty AGAINST Finland.

Patrick Kane will start the second period with a Molson and a cigar in his hands.

Save some goals for the gold medal game, boys.

No, I understand what they are saying fine. I don't see why you don't. And 6-0 after one is... well wow. Just proves what can be done in a one and done style of system for the playoff rounds.

You're also used to hockey. I only watch hockey when it's the Olympics or when it's a bitter rivalry and there's going to be fights. You should understand what they are saying. I'm just saying that it's not proper English and that it's counterintuitive. Everyone would understand what they're talking about if they watch hockey long enough. It's just annoying because I have to think about the penalty and then react, so when they say "Penalty to the US" I have to recind my reaction that the US is going on the power play, then translate from English into whatever language the announcer is speaking, translate back to proper English, and then at that point I'd be swearing because even though the announcer said "Penalty to the US", he meant "Penalty against the US"

The Finns are starting to play a bit vindictively, especially Ruutu running Miller.

We can't let Miller get hurt. Get Thomas out there for the third.

Americans played one hell of a hockey game today I'll tell you that much. Now im hoping to see Canada beat Slovakia tonight and set up a Canada/USA gold medal game. That will be an epic game.

In lieu of the gold in the bobsled and the guaranteed medal in hockey, the US will have the record for most medals in Winter Olympic History. They currently have 36 which is tied with Germany's Salt Lake City effort.

With two more gold medals (a possibility with men's curling and men's hockey), Canada will break the winter olympic record for most gold medals

I go to church in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. I suspect the gold medal game will be a subject of conversation tomorrow.

No, I live in Washington County, Maine. Specifically, in the wannabe "City" of Calais.

Basically a sleepy little border hamlet with delusions of relevance. My church is hardly the only organization here that straddles the border. St. Stephen and Calais mingle a LOT. A lot of Ameri-nadians here. My best friend married a Canadian, and my brother dated one for years. Heck, if the border wasn't there Calais and St. Stephen would have incorporated into the same town ages ago. When we can pull our heads out of the 19th century when Calais last mattered, we can look right across the historic St. Croix and watch the cars putter down St. Stephen's street.

St. Stephen's major industry is the Ganong cnocolate factory. Calais's major industry is Welfare, Disability and Unemployment. Makes for an interesting dynamic. For the most part we're all Sox fans and ALL of them are Bruins fans so that's OK lol.

Which direction? Down 1 towards St. John or up 3 towards Fredericton?

EDIT: Yeah, forgot the third option, but frankly with the new highway expansions I don't think St. Andrews is an hour away anymore -- besides which I could climb in a boat and be there in 10 minutes if Customs would let me.

Heading to a local watering hole/sports bar to watch the Gold Medal Hockey Game. It should be good. GO USA!

I thought hockey south of the Mason-Dixon line was something that involved bringing personal belongings to a pawn shop?
