Hey' date=' if you want to discuss Cano and Pedroia without bashing me and claiming I don't understand baseball as well as you, I'd love to have a serious discussion. But I'm not going to engage in a pissing contest.[/quote']

Yes, the victim approach. Good stuff.

Look dude.

If i ask you a question, and you answer in a condescending manner, you're going to get condescending responses.

If i ask you if you know how UZR works, i'm asking you a legitimate question, which you could have answered in a civil manner, not go for the  smiley then act like you're the victim here.

I'm not Jacko, i don't wear rosey-colored glasses, i call it like it is. "Talent" is an avaluation of a player's tools, not his on-field results.

Refer to my last post. When/if you want to discuss Pedroia and Cano without all the politics, bashing, off-topic stuff, etc. let me know.

Cano can hit the ball further with more routine. Pedroia can get on base much more with more routine. Cano may be able to cover more ground laterally with more routine. But Pedroia is able to cover more ground laterally and actually come up with the ball with more routine.

As for you assertion than Cano can actually turn the DP well, I've heard that from a bunch of Yankees fans when confronted about his poor defense. The fact is, he had the 10th worse pivot % among 2B last year, so he was actually below average at turning the double play.

okay........please explain pivot % and how it is calculated for me. Because to me it looked like his pivot improved tremendously last year.

And the thing that makes him so good at turning DPs is his quick hands when getting rid of the ball, whether dishing it off to Jeter or receiving it before firing to first. His arm, range, hands, and pivot (imo) all improved greatly last year, and I expect them to continue to improve.

I think this is you acknowledging that you've lost yet still being unwilling to concede defeat. You're just avoiding the discussion, everything he's said has been reasonable. Not to mention you've reacted in the same manner in which you accuse him of, in turn refusing to carry on the conversation.

Cano improved across the board defensively last year, but until they can fix his footwork (he made great strides in that department last year) he'll be on the lower half of MLB 2B at turning the DP. His quick release is not enough if he doesn't get his whole body into starting the process.

I'll keep saying this, because if you want to be objective, you can scout objectively. Cano has a rocket arm, and a lot of range. He's just an airhead.

That's fair, I'm just curious as to how pivot% is calculated because to the naked eye it looked like he made great improvements last year with his pivot and overall double-play turning in general.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Cano has considerably more talent than Pedroia... He has more tools than Home Depot. Not saying Pedroia isn't better, because I think overall, he is, but Cano certainly has more god-given talent.

What is he more talented at other than hitting for average? Pedroia has him beat in OBP' date=' isolated power, fielding range, turning the double play and baserunning over the last two years.[/quote']

Talented and skilled are two different things. Cano has more physical talent in power, strength, etc. I'd also bet that Cano is faster in plain footspeed. But Pedroia has maxed his potential out since he worked harder and has honed his skills. In terms of raw talent, Cano crushes Pedroia. Exactly why Cano can be so frustrating to root for

Idk man I think Pedroia would beat him in a foot race. I could be wrong though...

Yea so.... I basically skipped everything those three said. And isn't this list basically saying "These are the good players that the Yakees will try to buy"? I mean any team would kill to have these guys on their team.

Pedroia could beat him in a footrace.

For some reason, Cano has a real good first step, but he doesn't gain much more speed after.
