No problem. And when you see spring training stats on redsox.com, it doesnt include the college games. Its still spring training regardless IMO

Nice to see that Ortiz's avg is all sudden at .281. He's hit 2 HRs in the past week

I don't mean to brown nose here but I think it's very nice if you to take the time to post the cumulative SP stats on Talksox.

While SP is what it is, it helps to see who's tanking it and who is doing OK. Especially when there is limited TV coverage.

Ortiz will be just fine, in my opinion. As Dipre has pointed out, Papi was able to resume his off season work-out regiment. He will probably start the regular season slowly, as he has in seasons past, but I see no reason to expect the worst. When the warm weather hits Boston, I think he'll be productive.

Its 70 degrees here today. The warm weather has arrived!

Spud, I don't think Ortiz gets a lot of rope in the early going. If Lowell is still in house, he'll supplant Ortiz if he starts to suck again.

When could we see Dice-K in some ST games? Last I heard he was pitched two inninngs in a minor league game

it is supposed to be sometime this week.

Did you see that play Adrian Beltre made the other day? Beyond spectacular, wasn't it? Now, you do you realize that we're going to be repeating that phrase time and again through the summer, provided he stays healthy and remembers to wear a cup? I'm telling you, gang, this pitching and defense thing is going to be as aesthetically pleasing in its own way as watching the Red Sox Home Run Derby of 2003-04, and the lineup, deep, versatile, and without the Dueling Black Holes at the bottom of the order form a season ago, is far better than conventional wisdom suggests. Man, can Opening Day hurry up and get here already?

From Chad Finn's column in the Boston Globe.

Good things. Thank the Lord.

Wait' date=' does he wear a cup now? I heard he doesn't use it because it limits him defensively. Defense is more important![/quote']

I heard he actually had one custom-made. Being a ballplayer has its perks.

I can just imagine them making a paper mache shell of his twig & berries to form the cup.

Dustin Pedroia will undergo an X-ray on his left wrist on Wednesday.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona said that Pedroia had limited swelling on the back of his wrist, though he added that he doesn't think "there's a problem." It's likely just a precautionary measure.

Quite possibly one of the dumbest rumors i have read in a long, long time.

And kudos on the avatar. Lol George.

I was a kid in the 90's and started watching Seinfeld in re-runs... Constanza's the man.

The "Crying to convince my fiancee" episode was golden.

Not sure i saw the episode you're referring to, i'll admit.

But, they just had the episode the other night on where he drives his former/almost in-laws all the way out to the end of Long Island ...as part of an attempt to pretend he was taking them to his "home" in the Hamptons. His almost in-laws hated him and knew he had no home in the Hamptons and just wanted to watch him sweat. hahaha

It's the episode where he approaches Susan with the idea of moving back the wedding date so she starts crying uncontrollably, forcing George to do whatever it takes to put out the fire and agree to keep the date as is.

But then George himself starts crying in an effort to push the date back, which works, thus completely sacrificing his self-respect.

Sounds good. i'll check it out on the DVD collection.

BTW' date=' sources from the Globe and WEEI are saying Pedroia is fine, X-rays negative and he should play Friday.[/quote']

Minor swelling in the area. We must thank the baseball Gods.

What a joke that is.

It does seem laughable. But what if there is something to it?

The author of the article made a case against it. Who knows what his motivation was when writing the article. Maybe he had to write something to earn his pay?

A Three-Team trade in which you give up Youk plus other talent to get A-Gon is a marginal upgrade unless they get significant talent in return besides Gonzales, and it doesn't seem plausible.

Posted

It doesn't exactly seem like a good idea to get rid of one of the team's top players unless they know something about an injury risk, or he's being a problem in the clubhouse. I really don't think its going to happen, although its spring training and there isn't a ton else to talk about.

However, what if the plan is to trade him for Cabrera, and get something else? The tigers unload a big contract without completely pissing off their fanbase, Sox get a solid first baseman and who knows what else.

The "What else?" would be the hold up IMO. Because money-wise, it wouldn't make a ton of sense.

I would actually take Youk over Gonzo when factoring in Youk's positional versatility
