If Reddick and Tazawa are in our top 6' date=' don't you think it's pretty thin?[/quote']

Nope. I think it is reasonable to believe that 7 of those players will be MLB caliber by the time all is said and done (Westmoreland, Kelly, Reddick, Anderson, Tazawa, Rizzo, Iglesias), which means that's a pretty good group. The ones I didn't include could have an even higher upside, I just haven't seen as much about them (Kalish, Fuentes, Gibson). Mind you, that's not saying they will be Red Sox regulars, but mlb caliber.

I also know that the 2009 draft class was really good, but since few have them have even started playing professional ball yet they won't be highly rated.

I respectfully disagree with Rhet on Tazawa and Reddick. As stated, they are both VERY young.

Tazawa may never have a big power pitch, but he has allready shown that he has good breaking and off speed stuff. And he seems to have good composure and a fearless desire to compete. With a full year in Pawtucket (maybe longer), I think he can be a very competent MLB starter.

I think Reddick is closer, but not quite ready for the bigs. I saw him play at Fenway in September. He has tremendous athleticism and great game speed. You can't teach that. I agree he needs more plate discipline and better contact skills. I think he may be something special in two years.
