Secondly, it's September, the bullpen is very deep. For instance, Hunter Jones and Michael Bowden aren't in the acutal "bullpen".

Doesn't surprise me. We did this every time in the past when Brad Penny, John Smoltz and occasionally Wakefield (see last start) can't go more than 5. It's a common issue for the Sox this season. That's why it has often failed us. But like the above poster said, we're not really using anyone that will be in our pen in a post season game.
