This is what I am saying.

Yankees have CC that is it, IMO. Pettitte is hurt and not looking great, Burnett is look even worse and Joba is being f***ed with by them cutting his innings short, which IMO is stupid and could very well throw him off track.

Now, with all this said, I think the Yanks are made for a long season rather than a playoffs setting. Their offense will keep them a float in the regular season, but once they face good pitching there is a very good possibility they can get shut down. If that happens, they are in deep trouble because they do not have the pitching to keep them in games.

Pettitte, for the most part, has been excellent in the second half. Lets at least see what he looks like tonight, coming off his injury, before we make those kinds of proclamations about him.

Ok, I can do that.

I still see the Yankees winning the division.

It would be nice if the Sox could overtake them as it would allow for home field advantage.

I just don't see it happening.

In the last 10 games the Sox are 9-1. While the Yankees are 5-5.

The Yankees have just hit a rough patch. I don't follow them closely so I don't know if there is an organic reason for their slump. I suspect that it is just their turn to slide.

They still have the best offensive line-up in MLB, IMO. To think that they will not be able to produce in the playoffs is foolish. Good pitching is good. But you can't shut that team down for long. As for the Yankees pitching, 1-3 are good enough if they are pitching up to their potential. The pen may be their downfall.

The Yankees starting rotation is a bigger concern than their bullpen. The two guys at the end of the bullpen (Rivera and Hughes) are excellent, and third guy out of the pen (Robertson) is quite good as well. Also, Coke or Marte might be able to get out a lefty here and there.

I am not worried about the bullpen. Also, we are seeing a lot of B lineups of late with Girardi. The concern has to be squarely in the corner of the rotation. CC and Pettitte are reliable. Burnett looked really good in his last start and has had some really good stretches with us but has been hot and cold. But Joba has been on some sort of cold streak and relying on him out of the rotation is gonna be dicey.

I said to another poster, who was proclaiming that Pettitte is old and injured that he has been excellent in the second half, and we should wait till after his start tonight before commenting on his future this year.

However, the same goes for someone that says he's reliable. We don't know what he is going to give them the rest of the year. Lets wait until after tonight.
