Anderson is a complete zero. We would have been better of getting a valet parker instead of him. Kotchman is useless to this team too. He doesn't suck, but what is his role? I guess every year we need to have a slick fielding singles hitting first baseman named Casey.

My name isnt Casey, I just feel it wrong that you are making generalizations about a group of people with that name :harhar:

If Kotchman makes a slick, game-saving fielding play in the late innings of a postseason game, you'll be eating your words

Life is good. Buchholz finally looks like a guy you don't want to trade. Texas is still breathing down their necks--which is good--that keeps Tito's intensity up.

Ortiz continues to tease. He goes 1 for 40, then smacks one out, and you say "He's back." He does get a good lick once and a while.

The key is still a lights out Beckett. Lights out without him in top form.

Any play that Kotchman can make Youkilis can make.

This is shortsighted. The defensive value of brining Kotchman in is that it allows Youkilis to play 3rd and the put the statue on the pine.

Can Lowell make any play that Youkilis can make?
So, I will be thankful for Kotchman if Youkilis makes a play at third that Lowell can't make? If Youkilis makes a play at third that Lowell couldn't make, would it make a difference if VMart or Kotchman is the first baseman? Why would I ever be thankful for Kotchman?

Jason Varitek plays over him.

Because in the late innings, the difference between having Youkilis/Kotchman at the corners over Lowell/Youkilis could be monumental.

So, I'll be thnakful for kotchman for something Youkilis will do. What if he misses a pick at first that Youk would have made. I can see that happening.

No, you'll be thankful for nothing, ever. You've made that abundantly clear.

That would mean Varitek is in the game so I'll let you answer that one for me.
Do you think Tito is going to bench Varitek throughout the playoffs? I don't think so. We can hope, but we know Tek will play against lefties at the very least. In 7 games, Tito will play him 3 games, so VMart will be playing substantial time at 1st as he is now. Youk will be at third and kotchman will be on the bench.

I see Varitek being pinch-hit for in every one of those games then.

Tito PH for someone, anyone? Now you are dreaming. He's more likely to PH for AGon than Tek.

Didn't Francona SPECIFICALLY say he wanted to get Kotchman four ABs tonight cause he'd be the primary PH option down the stretch and the postseason? Holy crap, it was even you who posted that quote...

Yes, and I found that amusing having watched Tito sleep through obvious PHing situations for years. If he does use him to PH, I think he'll use him to PH for AGon. We'll have to see.

If we won the WS in 5 games vs. the cardinals you would complain about how we should have swept them...there is no pleasing you, we could throw a no hitter against the Yankees and win 23-0 and you would be pissed that we benched Lowell...you are an eternal pessimist and quite the kill-joy.

Francona is frustrating because he's guilty of letting his starters finish out games and giving guys rest during the regular season, but asided from a couple of questionable decisions this last ALCS, he's played to win in the postseason.

Im not trying to insult a700, I respect him and do enjoy the conversation he can bring it just seems to me that conversation always ends up being against whatever the management/ownership has done and I dont think that is fair.

I meant because being called a pessimist pisses him off to the extreme.

But he really is a pessimist.

Pessimist? Plenty of people were ready to throw in the towel a few weeks ago. I did not. In fact, I thought we still had a chance at the Division if we could close the yankee lead to 4 games by September 1st. I am the one saying that I am not worried about Texas. I still think they will fade despite their double header victory. Because I don't view them as a threat, I'd like to give our ace a little rest. This sounds like pessimism. I also didn't want to DFA Ortiz as so many wanted to do. Again, this is pessimism?
