Just a few things. One, the whole "Americans are fat and stupid" stereotype that much of the world buys into has nothing to do with the English. It wasn't started by us, and it's not even bought into much by us. Most of my mates here love the US and enjoy the company of American chicks. The main criticism about the US here is about Bush, and that's obviously dissipated after his tenure. And of course the age old joke of "(insert object here) is older than your country", but that's about it.

 

Plus each country has their stupid people. But the fact that a bunch of British guys "don't make sense to you" isn't necessarily their fault. I'm not implying anything about you since I don't know you, for the record.

 

Yeah, it's a generalization that is made, however I haven't talked to but maybe two Brits in my time that hasn't said something about how fat americans are. I never said it was started, a lot of foreigners think every american is fat, and that one picture they see in the news represents all of us. Oh well I guess?

 

And as for the other thing, I'm not calling all Brits stupid by any means, but from what I've talked to, I think it's hard to say the country is known for it's incredible intellect. I think that you may have implied something of a disrespect to my intellect, but maybe it's because of the fact that the British English is hard for me to understand, and that's what you're trying to say. So I'll leave it at that, and not assume that you are implying that I'm stupid

Who wouldve figured this out, i dont like the guy but i hate to see anyone get banned.

Even though he was more emotional than a 12 year old girl on the rag whos kitten just got run over by a truck I still hate to see these guys get banned. That being said this guy claimed to be a lawyer yet managed 7500 posts in 9 months and gets pissy with everyone who disagrees with him.

hes either under 15 or an emotional basket case.

Imagine being his client?

This guy has routine anxiety attacks over the most miniscule things and is the most baitable little guy this board has had in my time here. I hate to see people get banned, personally I prefer to ignore them. This guy was perhaps the only guy on this forum that I dislike personally due to his tone, his napoleonic complex and the fact that in his mind he's never been wrong since hes been here and his ""DONT GO THERE DUDE"" attitude as if he owned the f***ing place.

If this guys really a lawyer he better change proffessions.

but i doubt hes a lawyer, i got 3 of them in my family including my baby brother who i sponsored thru Holy Cross and Tulane, Lawyers come in all shapes and sizes but none of them go into a blind rage when you discuss who the health minister in santo domingo is or perhaps that David Ortiz is finished or Pedro Martinez was on hgh.

he hasnt been off this board long enough to be in a courtroom for the length of a trial so I suspect hes full of s***.Im not sure the guy knows anything about baseball either.

all his responses were 1 sentence sarcastic attacks or condencending putdowns as if the sport was invented in San Pedro de Macoris for him alone and he was an English proffesor.

Act civilized even if you aint and this place is decent place to vent.

Dipre's 3 day ban was sort of a surprise to me. The rules are the rules.

 

As far as being a Lawyer goes, he has a Law Degree. But has had no luck getting a job as an attorney since graduating. The economy in the D.R. is bad too.

 

I've spent some time chatting with Dipre on FB and in PMs. He is actually a pretty nice guy.

 

There are several members here that have abrasive styles and bring the douchbagery on a regular basis. I get sick of it but continue to be a member because I enjoy most of what people have to say. If anyone is put-off by what someone else has said than I suggest just ignoring them and don't respond to what they say.

Honestly speaking the Brits have taken the loss of the empire better than i thought they would but why has there been civil war in every single nation that was colonized by the English?..Outside Canada where the Quebecois seccesionists have lost their steam every nation England colonized has been lit a fire due to their strategy of dividing and conquering..Afrika, the USA, China, Pakistan/India/Bangladesh, all of these nations have killed 100s of thousands of their own in civil war due to British policy and this doesnt mention the fact that 1/4 of Ireland disappeared from their land back between 1849-1920.

The Brits are our cousins, they are our best ally and they are some of the bravest men on earth but if they dislike GWB as the entire world does thats fine but they have to admit that they were the most hated nation on the planet for 400 years until we inherited their role as international policeman.

What Spudboy said. Dipre takes an abrasive tone in his discussions, as do a lot of people here. I'm one of them, just ask a700. Nothing wrong with that, because a lot of discussions tend to be passionate and contentious. The barbs flying back and forth are rarely meant to be truly personal (even if they do contain something that could be conceived as personal), its just banter. I think it gives this place flavor. Not like he's gone forever either, its three days.

Yeah, and (please, don't take this statement out of context) most of the British I HAVE TALKED TO seem to be angry that they aren't the top dogs anymore, and have to grab at anything they can get. Most of them (out of the ones I KNOW) actually act as though the British are still capable of being the world's greatest power. Anyhow, they aren't, and we share many of out technological advancements with them, because we are allies. That's how I like to think of them, as allies, but for Christ's sake they (of course, only the ones I know) are always talking smack.

 

In case you were wondering, I know a few students from Britain now, known a couple in the past, etc etc and they all seem to have this mindset, that's who I refer to, not the country as a whole so much. All generalizations about a people as a whole are really meant to be for a few of that country as a whole.

My brother does a lot of immigration work in NY.

The islanders have a hard time getting work or student visas here because once they arrive they tend to stay. We had a Jamaican lady working the phones for us in Negril who was a beauty queen.

Vanessa Grayson was her name, a Vogue covergirl and a woman who could stop traffic on the Southeast Expressway with a smile.

She ended up going all over Europe to model from Paris to Milan to Prague ,the lady had it all... except a US Visa and immigration wasnt budging back then.

I set her up with my brother for help and they found that if you have an exclusive talent, like being a ballplayer or a boxer or some unusual field of talent then visas come easy, shes now in NY working for more per hour than I make in a month. Immigration isnt as hard today as it was say 5-6 years ago, my dad was a Boston player in Irish immigration reform and my brother has carried the torch since his passing..Just in case a young lady on board here is in need of a letter or a phone call I am in a good position to reach out and get it done.
