He has the "me against the world" attitude. I think it's pretty funny.

Tim Wakefield could hit him in the foot with a knuckle ball and he'd be pissed off.

Honestly, despite the emotional displays and all the sweating Youks is usually a consummate professional. A loud professional, but he sticks to business and doesn't get himself in trouble a lot. That's probably why this thread is here, people are shocked this happened this way..

Personally I don't care if it does sit him out for a week. The message needed to be sent. And in your desperate quest to blame Youks for something you're overselling the extent of Lowell's injury. If he can't play a solid week of 3B he should be on the DL.

He went on the DL, just for that reason.

Nick Green and Chris Woodward will be in the same lineup soon.

get over it, he did it on a spur of the moment, it wasnt selfish, maybe a little near sighted but getting plunked intentionally is the equivalent of being punched, you can only take so much before you swing back. I think this team can do fine without Youk here, maybe not as good as we would have but good enough and i think he misses no more than 5 days so if this team cant step it up for 5 days then we were screwed anyways.

What have we done to deserve this

I don't understand this.

We are talking about a topic that has two obvious different point of views. That being said, the people who don't agree with Youkilis action are told to "Get over it."

I can see you are open to further discussion on this matter.

There's absolutely no guarantee that actually happens. Don't let the fearmongers get to you.

You came up with a children's book villian name to describe my alleged attempt to start a fight. Now, you are very openly trying to provoke one. I suggest you stop.

Posted
I suggest in that case that you suspend the hypocricy and don't call people out for sins for which you yourself are rather blatantly guilty.
Posted
Why did a "message need to be sent"? Who believes in that nonsensical ********?

That's how the game is played, always has been.

Posted

Youk got tired of being the guy with the target on his back, so he sent a message.

We have three first baseman, so of all the positions to lose a starter at first will cause the least fall off offensively. Youk would have had a tough job topping what Lowell did yesterday.

Are you f***ing serious? I haven't tried to provoke anything, but you've tried, as well as called out in the span of twenty minutes.

Knock it off.

Exactly.

But hey, he's supposed to be a robot, right?

excuse me, I did word the introduction of my post a bit harshly in that regard, it doesnt change the way I feel but who am I to tell you to get over it, glad to see your discussion on youks selfishness centers around the argument that I shouldnt tell you to get over it, so why dont you get over my word choice and continue a legitimate discussion on topic.

I disagree.

We do have a lot of depth at the 1B position, but none of which are of Youkilis quality. There's a substantial gap between the best hitters on the team. Losing Youkilis bat causes the most fall off offensive, because that means that Varitek or Ortiz have to take his spot.

Exactly.

If he wanted to charge the mound, I get that, but that doesn't excuse his childish helmet toss at Porcello. He's going to get extra games for that.

Posted
I forgot about the helmet throwing. Charging the mound was bad enough' date=' but he chucked his helmet at the kid. This could be a lengthy suspension[/quote']

It can't and won't be longer than the five games Sexson got last season for doing the exact the same thing, helmet throwing and all

I'll give you the helmet toss.

But the fact that Youk is a living target and he was eventually gonna flip remains.

right off the bat, I bet he gets a suspension of 7-9 games. And depending on which one it is, he'll be able to chop a few off with an appeal

then justify to me how Youkilis doesn't get the initial six-games Sexson got with an appeal knocking it down to five....the Yankees bias of Bob Watson aside

And you have to factor in the huge loss on the defensive side.

Get used to a lot of seeing eye hits between Lowell and Green.

in the end its no more to 6 days I think, but I could be wrong.
