That Theo should have gotten.

No excuses, no "I don't work in front offices"

Give me the name of who they should have traded for.

And I swear to God if one more person says they wish they kept Kotsay I'm gonna f***ing lose it.

Well, to be honest, there were varying degrees of FAIL and SUCK who could probably have been acquired in the market.

However, as logic dictates, why give up talent for what might account for less than a marginal upgrade.

Glovey Mcnoodlebats abound in the market, but we already have our own........His name is Brian Anderson.

Cody Ross would have been a nice pickup. I'm not sure if he was ever on the trading block but he was mentioned a few times on mlbtraderumors.com from what I recall.

Dude.......

Florida was flat-out buying on the deadline.

Why in God's name were they going to trade their .850+ OPS CF.

Seeing as the Marlins were buyers at the deadline I highly doubt Ross was available.

I agree. The Sox have a couple guys in house that can fill in.

As for who was on the market? I guess Willingham might have been a decent pick up form the Nats. But you have to weigh how much they could possibly help as a 5th OF, to how much they would have cost to acquire.

Willingham is not a bench player.

That bat needs to play every day.

No, one ever said that, so I think you may have lost it already.

Josh Anderson.

Having a bad year off the bench this year, but potentially quite a useful three position speedy type. He was traded from Detroit to Kansas City.

Yeah, but he's not much more than a marginal upgrade, and Speedy Glovey McNoodlebats are a dime-a-dozen in the waiver wire, not to mention he's still just a marginal upgrade.

I'm pretty sure Brian Anderson was the caliber of talent that was available for OF that fit our needs.

.... annnnnnnd /thread.

He's the textbook definition of Speedy Glovey McnNoodlebat anyways.

True, but Anderson's speed is legit and that could have made him very useful off the bench.

It's water under the bridge anyway, wouldn't have even mentioned it except that that's what the whole thread is about.

I dunno, for a 5th outfielder we could have benefitted fron a speedy glovy mcnoodlebat. We really can't rely on Baldelli to do it all himself and I don' want Reddick on the bench long term. As long as he went back to hitting at his 2007 level he would have been able to stick here.

He can't be any worse as a player than he is as a broadcaster.

If it'll take him out of the booth, i'd gladly give up a roster spot for him.

I have a lot of respect for Dave Roberts. But he is horrible in the booth. Ecks and Orsillo have some chemistry together. Roberts and Orsillo, it's like Crickets...
