Why's everybody laughing? This puts NYY right back into the Halladay sweepstakes.

Don't think for a second Cashman wouldn't be able to absorb Rios's contract along with Halladay.

to answer your question we are laughing because of the "he knows how to operate on a Wang comment" <_>

You can't tell me their involvement won't increase now.

If they send them Jackson, Montero, and Hughes, and take back Halladay and Rios's contract, that will be quite appealing for JP.

Not liking this. Yankees can really shift the balance of power in the AL (if it's not there already)

I just hope that theo really is working on something signifigant and that he actually pulls the trigger and gets it done, whether its Vmart and lee or Halladay i dont care i just hope he actually gets it done.

We need to wait and see.

I hate to do it, but i'm with Doiji here.

I' m fairly certain they expected nothing out of Wang anyway.

I think it was pretty obvious that Wang was down for the yr when he couldnt throw. This might kick up our interest more in Washburn than in Halladay. I will tell you right now, the Jays were pretty adamant about getting Happ, Drabek, and the Phils top OF prospect. The fact that the Phils offered Drabek, their top OF prospect and Donald and the Jays rejected it is pretty telling. The package we or the sox would need to offer to the Jays is a lot more than either team would swallow. We're talking Hughes, Coke, Montero, and Jackson for us. We're talking Buchholz, Bowden, Bard, and Anderson for you guys. I highly doubt the Doc is in this thing for either of us. Cause at that price, it just isnt worth it.

The wild card is Cleveland. Cleveland has always been great at scouting other teams and typically asks for a MLB ready prospect, a close to MLB ready prospect and a guy further down the line. They did that with Montreal and hit on all three (well, Phillips found his way in Cincy). I think something can be done with Lee, but I have a feeling it will hurt a bit less off the bat, but potentially a bit more in the future. Especially since I think they scout much better than Toronto

And I fully expect us to get someone.

What's frustrating is that even if you don't I still like the Yankees chances much better than ours. And I think NYY gets a starter too, which makes it even worse.

The Yankees are killing bookmakers all over the f***ing planet this month, thankfully last night they gave a little back..Ny needs some stability in the pen and health down the stretch and they will be very difficult to beat out of the division but in a short series I like Beckett and Lester and our bullpen over their 1-2 and pen combo. If we didnt have Ny on their knees in our head to head battles we'd be sucking hind tit now and either moving money out of town or selling the farm for a quick fix.

As it stands Ny is obviously the team to beat and in the National league the World Champs are looking like theyre clicking on all cylinders and will be back again.

Assuming Aceves is ok (he said his shoulder is a bit sore), then I dont think we need to make any improvement in the pen. Hughes, Coke, Aceves and Mo have been a really strong pen. And having Robertson come in during mop-up/behind duty has been nice too. I dont think a pen addition is needed, obviously if someone falls into our lap, we take it. Where we need help is in the rotation. AJ, CC, and Pettitte have been durable and solid as a top 3. Joba has been inconsistent and will be coming up on an inning limit and Mitre is a wild card. We could use another starter

I think Joba is going back to the bullpen in October unless 1 of the above mentioned 3 guys is hurt.

Phil Hughes has been a steadying influence in the pen and hasnt melted down under pressure yet this year. of course the fun is only beginging and lets face it, the pressure is on in NY to win this year.

I wonder how these guys will react to the pressure. Sabby Tex Burnett Coke Hughes, none of these guys have felt the pressure that will be coming down on them come October, maybe they can have a closed door session with Arod to see what he does in between games to relieve the pressure.

Perhaps Madonna will be giving out blow jobs as if she were at the NBA AllStar game to help the cause.
