My fault.
I am superstitious. here's a funny story about superstition. My daughter has never seen the Sox lose. She's been at some very exciting games. Just this season, she was at the Ellsbury steal of home against the Yankees. She was at the final game of the last Yankee series. She was also at the Sunday night Tampa game where Papelbon left the tying run on 3B by striking out 3 in a row. On Father's Day, I was at the braves game with my son. When Papelbon was struggling with men on base, I texted my daughter and asked her to send me some luck. She thought i was being silly. I asked her to type "luck" and hit send for Father's day. She did. The next pitch the brave hitter swung at a 3-2 fastball that was about a foot over the hitter's head. Kottaras had to jump out of his crouch to catch it. The next pitch Green hit the ball to RF and the wind blew it around Pesky's Pole. I called my daughter while Dirty Water was playing to thank her. lol!!

I'd rather support the Sox regardless of the situation then just support them when they're doing well and constantly whine and bitch when they aren't. Calling the game over when the team's down by 4 runs in the 4th inning is inexcusable in my book. You pulled the same bull in game 3 of the Orioles series and ate your words. If you cant stand watching all 9 innings of a game, then don't turn the game on until 8 or 9.

Yeah, I'm convinced that I'm bad luck for the Red Sox. I've seen 4 games this year and the Red Sox have gone 1-3. I won't be going to any more Red Sox games.

More than just a laugh, your daughter will likely have this as a life memory. She'll share it with her children and others. That is very nice.

Holy crap, give me a break. It's a game thread. This is the place for reactionary posts and comments.

The lineup was awful, Smoltz was awful, they mailed this one in once they got down 4-0.

Not once did I say "season over" or anything of that sort. Calling me a pink hat for expressing my disgust with this homestand so far is completely laughable.

This place would be awful boring if it was nothing but "Hey, we'll be fine, we're doing awesome!" type posts.

And while I was wrong the other day, I was right tonight.

It was a suck night for the Sox and for Sox fans.

There is no need to start trading barbs with other members of Talksox.

I'm not pointing fingers, rather, just stating something that should be obvious to us all.

Tomorrow's another day. Beckett RULES!

That is all.

You gave me pom-poms for claiming the game wasn't over in the 4th inning. I gave you a pink hat for claiming the game was somewhow over in the 4th inning. Honestly, which one was more ridiculous?

Congrats, you're 1-1 in games when the Red Sox are down by at least 3 runs in the 9th. I'm sure in your strange mind, that's something to be proud of. But in real life that's pretty lame. I don't support the team all the time. I've said this homestand was disappointing when the Red Sox were down late in the game. But to say the game's over in the 4th inning when we just averaged over 5 runs a game against the best ERA in the AL is reactionary, pink hat territory.

Watching and discussing the team when we suck is basically the opposite of pink-hatting.

I agree. But in my opinion, stating that the game is over in the 4th inning when we just scored over 5 runs+ a game against the best ERA in the AL is pink hat territory.

The both of you should go masturbate and flood your systems with endorphins. This will hopefully allow you to gain perspective and realize that it is just one game.

Don't forget the Kleenex.;)

I totally realize this is one game. That's why I wasn't claiming it was over in the 4th inning or claiming it meant our offense sucks. Every comment I made passed this off as one game and pointed to the fact that we have Beckett, Wakefield, Penny, Lester starting in our next games.

Multiple times I mentioned the fact that we scored over 5 runs a game against the Mariners who lead the league in ERA and I tipped my cap to Anderson rather than claiming our offense sucks.

I realize that. I've read all the posts. There's no sense in discussing the issue further. At least as I see it. How about discussing how the Sox can improve their offense against seemingly marginal talent? That would be interesting.

Consiering Pedrroia had a personal day, Drew had a day off and Kontsay is day-to-day, I'm not too worried about the offense. Lowell and Lowrie are due back after the All-Star break so in my personal opinion that's even less reason to worry.

The Sox need to win between now and the All Star break. The Yankees and Rays will not wait for the Sox to regain their strength. I say tell Pedroia to ignore his newborn. Shoot Drew and Kotsay full of cortisone and wrap them in ace bandages until the second half. They're all pussys!;)

I apoligize if I'm out of line because I'm 7 pints in. But I basically feel the same about people who complained about the Red Sox the entire game.

You da man!

No problem man, it's a matter of training, (think Michael Phelps) that makes you a star. :D

I was very happy they gave Nomar the standing O. Probably the biggest player to leave Boston of the bunch that have left in the last 5 or 6 years, but time downplayed this return. Great guy and great ballplayer. I hope he ends up back in Boston one day.

There's nothing wrong with criticizing the team. But when you repeat the same exact criticisms over and over for 2 hours, it becomes whiny and annoying. The first 12 times you mentioned how we weren't hitting a bad pitcher were plenty.

In this case he was right, and if the Sox had come back and proved him wrong, he would have been just as happy as you. He chose a certain way to express his frustration with the game which was warranted. I don't understand why you are making a big deal about this.

it was fairly obvious with the lineup we had last night and the way Anderson was pitching that if Smoltz s*** the bed, the Sox had no chance
