Yeah, you don't pitch a 2 hit shutout on accident, no matter how badly the opposing team is hitting (We did average over 5 runs a game against Seattle, who holds the best ERA in the league).

I agree, it's hard to get too upset about a loss when Beckett's pitching tomorrow (and Wakefield, Penny, Lester after him aren't slouches either).

Smoltz said he only threw two bad piches. The other 8 hits were off good pitches. They are not that good of an offense to hit so many good pitches.

Me neither, because they've hit pretty similarly this year. But Baldelli has been a legit major league hitter this year.

I saw a few good pitches the A's got hits off. But I also saw plenty of bad pitches the A's made outs on.
