Don't be so ungrateful. Our bullpen took a beating in Baltimore. Offday or no offday, a chance to rest them in a game we were never that likely to win in the first place makes sense.

Thank the Lord. Now instead of being pissed the Sox lost I can just think "Well at least our bullpen is rested even though we just had an off day!".

You might be sarcastic here, but that outlook makes sense. It was Wakefield against felix Hernandez, I don't mind leaving Wake out a bit in this situation. It's about managing your assets for 162 games.

I don't really think 2 innings of bullpen is too much to ask after an off-day.

Maybe, maybe not. After the job the pen turned in a few days ago i'd give them all the rest I could before leaning on them again.

Generally I would agree, but only three guys were used on Wednesday, so we had Okajima, Saito, Delcarmen and Masterson all on three days' rest. But it's hindsight--if Wake went 1-2-3 in the 8th, I wouldn't have even brought it up.

 

Speaking of 1-2-3...onto the 9th!
