ok... so why arent we killing this scrub yet?

It always seems (to me anyway) that players have career games against the Sox.

And Ellsbury continues to be incapable of hitting fastballs on the inside part of the plate.

Awesome.

Yeah, he has things that he has to improve on. I'm not going to try to make excuses for him, but he did not spend a lot of time in the minors. He continues to be a work in process. I think he'll figure it out. Unfortunately, he has to do it on the big stage in Boston.

Bummer @ rain delay when we're losing.

But nice because I can Q up some franks in our 80F evening. Finally we get a summery day ourselves. Weird weather this year all around.

Papelbon, when asked if he would go to the Yankees:

Oh, of course. I mean, I think if we can't come to an agreement on terms here in a Red Sox uniform, I mean I think that's pretty much the writing on the wall.

What article/link is that from?

Not that I'm surprised. He's great and all, but Paps is all about....Paps.

He can pitch. But he is somewhat of a dolt.

Paps is just being honest. Lets face it, probably 90%+ of players would go to the team offering more money. I'm not sure a single player on our team (maybe Wakefield) would turn down a better contract from NY to stay with Boston. It's just the way it is, and kudos to Paps for admitting it.

It's pretty stupid for saying something like that while you're pitching for the Red Sox. If he's a free agent that's one thing, but he's kinda pitching for us at the moment...

Yeah, that's what bugs me about Paps in the media...he rarely has any tact. Honesty is one thing, but it should be tempered with politeness/tact. At least imo.

And changed mind...boneless ribs and potatoes.

Doesn't look good for game, think it's going to get called. Oh well.

I understand' date=' not exactly the most politically/publicly correct thing to say, but honest non-the-less. He could also be sending a message to the FO.[/quote']

I mean, I didn't really see anything in his comments I was shocked by. If they're only going to contribute negatively to the team, which comments like that potentially could, they are better left unsaid. Everyone knows it's possible for him to go to the Yankees, and everyone knows he's going to take the best offer. It will most likely come from NY. Thank you, Papelbon, for reminding all of your fans that you may end up in pinstripes. I understand the honesty, but I'm not about to give him kudos for what he said.

Jacoby, my cat approves of your avatar. He waves his front paws in the air for you.

Calling it a night, laters dudes/dudettes.

10:45 Here to say we're still alive. The umpires just met on the tarp under an umbrella and decided to keep waiting it out. If this game continues, there will be a couple hundred people to see it. But it's not looking good so far.

Subtlety has never exactly been a forte of his. He could answer the question a little less bluntly and still send the same message to the front office. But he doesn't, he's a spaz.
