Thanks. I'll just go look it up. NOT! Most of you folks are considerably younger than me. I'm not always conversant in this new lingo. Anyone care to tell me what it means? Does it mean derr?

Exclamation of joy/acclaim.

I'm surprised it's in webster, I thought it was slang not worthy of officialness. :D

I even linked to the definition page! What more do you want from me?

It's an expression of joy.

I saw this post after my last post. Again, thank you. I am enlightened.

It's just basically hurrah or hooray. CoDisc introduced it to the board' date=' if I recall correctly. I had never heard it before.[/quote']

IIRC it was oft used by myself in the 2007 playoffs.

Sorry to belabor the issue. Now I'm confused. I have so much to learn. If my Son was here I'd just ask him. He knows all this stuff.

not sure if you want to run up the pitch count. Do you really want him out of the game?

We'll try to squeeze as many runs out of him as we can. But it's never too bad to face the bullpen for 5-6 innings, especially with a game tomorrow.

We all second guess the manager's decisions. Tito takes his share, for sure. Earlier in the thread his decision to sit Drew was called into question (rightfully so). I assume these managers know WAY more about the game than any of us. But it does seem that their judgment is driven by what I will call "anecdotal wisdom".

At sucking.

Wells really wasn't that bad in the year we traded him to SD. Especially when you consider what you would have expected out of him. He had the most enormous belly out of anyone I had ever seen pitch, but he got the job done more than he didn't. Especially when the season was essentially lost in 2006 and he still went out there everyday and competed, when someone at that point in his career probably wouldn't normally have had the motivation to do what Wells did. He had come off the DL after starting the year on it and had some sub-par performances but did complement those with some strong ones, IIRC. He really wasn't that bad here.

He's been silent so far this season against the Sox, but Rios is a Red Sox Killer. Not to the extent of Wells. But he can do damage. I don't have data to back this up. Only subjective observations.
