Davis is a 3b though. Thats the thing. You are talking about a kid who is 24' date=' can play both 3b and 1b and is a masher. No, he doesnt walk, yet. He might as his career moves on. But one thing that makes him more valuable than anything is that he's needed. Blalock is gone after the season. [b'] Davis plays 3b well[/b]. And that opens up first for Smoak.

No he doesn't.

If he did, he'd be playing 3B at Texas right now, Young would be at short and Blalock would be at 1st.

Davis is average at 1B, so under what basis do you assume he is "good" at 3rd, a much more demanding position?

Davis can play 3rd but got moved to 1st so Elvis Andrus could play SS and for that to happen Young had to move to 3rd.

So, breaking it down

Salty for Bowden --- check

How bout

Buchholz and MDC for Davis

Those two are value for value deals.

Chris Davis is horrible. Horrible at everything, the dude is a power hitter and that is literally all, yes he still has time to improve but right now he doesn't even take walks and he is going to set single season K record. If I were Red Sox no way in hell I would give up a potential front end of the rotation guy for Davis, especially considering Buchholz would be very valuable to Texas with how bad their rotation is.

and Delcarmen isn't exactly a throw in, he has pitched well the past few seasons including this year. I would pass on that.

That said, this might be the thread to call into attention the fact that our currently STRUGGLING rotation could probably benefit from a temporary callup of either or both of Buchholz and Bowden.

at the expense of who? how do you justify taking anyone out right now besides Lester or Beckett? it isnt realistic cause if this team is going anywhere this year, Beckett and Lester have be the top of the rotation guys they're supposed to be

Brad Penny and Justin Masterson i suppose is his line of thinking.

But Masterson's spot is going to be occupied by Dice-K, and Penny's by Smoltz or ONE of them, so both of them won't be in the big league rotation at the same time this year unless injuries play a hand.

Penny's been arguably the Sox best starting pitcher in the last few weeks. the rotation isn't struggling because of what Penny is giving you from the 5 spot. It's struggling because the top two guys aren't pitching like the top two guys on a contending team need to pitch
