Napoli was impressed:

His delivery and ease of velocity really reminds me of Justin Verlander more than just about anyone else. He doesn't have the 'squat' hard-thrower's approach of a guy like Wagner or Zumaya. The ball gets about halfway and seems to explode toward the plate.

If he can do nothing but throw strikes then he should be as useful as Manny Delcarmen right off the bat. If he can mix it up at all he could be setting up by the end of the year in my opinion... if Ramon Ramirez will let him get anywhere close to that role.

There should be an awful lot of competition in that pen throughout this season and moving forward.

Im more happy Lopez is gone then I am Bard is up.

Edit: When Dice-k is back and Masterson is back in bullpen this bullpen will be f***ing amazing, worst pitcher will be Saito.

I couldn't agree with you more. Masterson in the pen would be sensational, although in a perfect world 2 lefties in the pen would be ideal, especially one who could get you a strikeout in a tough spot. Hunter jones isn't that guy.

Don't give up on Hunter too quickly. But I agree that right now there isn't much room for him in our bullpen.

Actually Hunter's problem isn't strikeouts. He's got 7 in 9 innings. His problem is that he has to be fine or he'll get tattooed.

Hunter is what he is. He's a soft tossing lefty who can get outs if he has his location and will get lambasted if he doesnt. He's your 12th man in the pen. If you have a better option, then he goes to Pawtucket. If you dont, then he's decent to throw out there in garbage time or against the occasional lefty.
