BOSTON (AP) — Dominic DiMaggio, the bespectacled Boston Red Sox center fielder who was overshadowed by his older brother Joe's Hall of Fame career, died early Friday at his Massachusetts home. He was 92.

DiMaggio was surrounded by his family at his death, according to his wife, Emily. She did not give a cause of death but said that DiMaggio had been ill lately.

"He was the most wonderful, warm, loving man," his wife of 61 years said. "He adored his children, and we all adored him."

DiMaggio was a seven-time All Star who still holds the record for the longest consecutive game hitting streak in Boston Red Sox history.

Yup, sadly he will always be overshadowed by his brother's career which is a shame cause most guys can only dream of putting together the kind of career Dom DiMaggio did and ideally, a lot of the younger posters on this site will look at the thread title, think "Joe DiMaggio's brother played for the Sox?", look up his numbers, read up on how much he got out of such a little body and maybe it'll further enhance his legacy a little bit.

Sad news.

I have it but haven't read it yet, but Summer of '49 is supposed to be an awesome book and has a lot about Joe and Dom in there. Everyone I know says it's one of the better books they've ever read.
