Nothing too serious. at least it's something other then his medical condition, which hasn't seemed to hinder him too much so far.

Is it, though? Maybe a little "extra" rest aside from the strain?

Roids destroys careers, this kid had been on the juice since his high school senior year according to local sources...

Once reminding people of Joe Dimaggio with his swagger and running style he now reminds people of Nomar Garciaparra, broken down and a shell of himself, at least he didnt marry a lesbian.

Links?...

No links, his dad told me a couple years ago and says there are no regrets because the kids made his money and never has to worry about working again.

his primary concerns were long term health issues and embarassing himself nationally.

alright....

anyway, Chris Carter was sent down and word is, the move will be to bring up Van Every to serve as the fourth OF for the time being

Carter was raking the ball in florida,

id be more inclined to give him a shot but evidently we're thin in the outfield.

Who had a better spring, Baily or this guy?

I was playing college ball in Mass when he was coming through the HS ranks in RI. It was very well known that he wasnt the cleanest kid on the lot, but nobody cared.

Ya and Nomar never tested positive either when he went from 160lbs to 190 in 1 offseason and essentially broke down the very same way.

There are clear cut signs of roid or Hgh use and the decline that follows is usually preceeded by offensive prowess, some last longer than others but hitters get better and more powerful thru their 20s and into their 30s, not weaker.

Nomar hit 30 hrs and .372 in 97? i think

he hasnt hit 30 since they started roid testing has he?

i dont think rocky has either...As i said earlier, theres no regret as hes got his money,he isnt a dope fiend or a big time boozer and is set for life...The fact of the matter is he made the big time, was considered a stud and then the roid testing began around the same time his career fell apart.

This isnt a natural homerun hitter like Giambi was, this is a skinny guinea who had his shot, made his money then fell to the mysterious injury bug that plagues almost all these guys who break their cycles cold...I certainly hope he regains his health and can perform like he used to.

Too bad the Mets beat us out for WMP. He would have provided excellent defensive depth. (sarcasm)

Yeah, maybe we could get Mark bellhorn and try to see if Todd Wlaker are available again.

Even though I'm joking, Todd Walker did do his thing with the bat when he was with us. One of my favorite red sox besides nomar while he was here.

It would be nice if the sox could get the same Baldeli that the Rays had when they 1st drafted him. But injuries do take a toll on the body, and it's unlikely that he'll ever return to that type of player again. He is still pretty young, 26 or 27, but his health prevents him to play the way he used to. The good thing is that the sox only brought him here to play part time, usually against left handed pitching.

Is Kotsay really an improvement over JVE/Bailey?
Probably not by much. Kotsay is a better fielder than Bailey, but Bailey and Van Every give you a lefty/righty combo at the plate that would probably be more productive than Kotsay.
