I will admit up front that I am a fairly new Red Sox fan and have never lived in the Boston area. That being said...after the Yankees beat my NL team (Braves) that I had grown up pulling for (because of the early days of WTBS) in the 1996 World Series, I decided that I needed an AL team to pull for and it certainly wasn't going to be the yankees. As I began learning more about the AL, I learned about the huge rivalry between the Sox and yankees...to me, it was a no-brainer and a perfect fit...I found my new AL team! As I learned more about Red Sox Nation and the rivalry with yankee fans, I must admit that I have followed the Red Sox more closely than the Braves over the last few years.

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to watch the Red Sox play the yankees in yankee stadium during a trip to NY a couple of years ago, but I haven't been to Boston yet. However, I hope to visit Fenway in the near future...now that I have relatives and a few friends living in the Boston area!

I look forward to becoming active on here and following the Sox even closer with the help of you guys while living out in SoCal for the next couple of months before getting stationed overseas.

Go Sox!

Thanks BoSox...I definitely fall into the latter category and I always try to convert others (especially yankee fans) to do the same!

DipreG...Thanks for the info...I'll definitely try the game threads when I get a chance, but I'm not allowed to access message boards on my work computer.

Coco's and yeszir...thanks for the kind welcomes! It just always sounds funny to say I'm a Red Sox and Braves fan- having never lived in either city and when you consider the recent success of both franchises (ok...I guess the Braves success isn't so recent anymore).

Welcome to the board. I just joined 04/15 and I have enjoyed the game thread talk tremendously. Just about everyone is friendly and everyone is more than willing to fill you in on anything you aren't up on.

Hope you make it to Boston to catch a game at Fenway. Be forewarned, if you've be to other major league

parks you'll notice that Fenway is cramped, uncomfortable, expensive, and has many poor sight lines (some obstructed). Never the less, the atmosphere is tough to beat. Very loyal and vocal fans. You can now even get chowdah there!

See you on the game thread. Spudboy
