Not sure why Liriano wasn't featuring his off speed stuff early in the count earlier in the game...

He's a meathead.

I'd be curious to see Liriano's.

Might not all be him. Who knows what the catcher and pitching coach were telling him. So many pitchers go to the game plan where they show their fastball so often early, and then break in the off speed stuff later in the game. In theory, it makes a lot of sense, but if the pitcher doesn't have a good enough fastball it won't work.

If you go by the same strike zone that Kilo is using, Liriano lost four strikes.

EDIT: And got no gift strikes.

Looks like Liriano was getting squeezed as well. And his pitches down in the zone weren't borderline either.

That one has five. Guess I miscounted.

I don't care about that one in the middle of the zone though. I was just trying to demonstrate that the umpire wasn't calling the low strike very often.

Absolutely. That's why I wasn't upset at the umpire when Robertson wasn't getting those calls.

Yeah, as a pitcher if you aren't getting the call you've gotta make the adjustment.

I would say the Yankees will play these last three innings very similar to how they did last night. Phil Coke for Mauer, Morneau, and Kubel. Hughes through the 8th (assuming they're not going to use Mo for more than 3 outs again). Rivera for the 9th.

Wow' date=' Ransom and Gardner had absolutely no chance against the knuckle ball.[/quote']

I'm convinced that the players with more of an uppercut swing do the best against the knuckleball because their swing is along the same plane of the ball for the longer period of time. If you try to swing parallel to the ground on a pitch that's dropping down in the zone, it's like trying to catch a fly with chopsticks. You have to guess exactly where the pitch is going to end up relative to the ground to make contact.

I think that's why guys like Millar and Cust do well against Wakefield.

Why does Canada even have a baseball team?

 That's like saying, "why does the U.S. even have a hockey team?"

Have you ever been to Canada, or is your only impression from Canadian Bacon and South Park?
