Steelers got lucky the Ravens decided to challenge it. If the Steelers were serious about challenging it, that is. They'd have lost their challenge and a timeout.

Flacco is overated

the Ravens will need to run the ball to win this game

Ridiculously overrated. If the Ravens go to the Super Bowl, he's going to be among the most overhyped, overrated players ever.

He may be overrated, any rookie who gets to the AFC Championship is going to be, but he's not bad either. That's one hell of a defense making him look pedestrian.

Speaking of overrated QB's... Big Ben is so f***ing lucky.

Are you kidding? He's been throwing the ball on the money between layers of coverage all game. He extended that play, coverage broke down, and he put the ball right on the spot where it needed to be.

That's practically a jump ball and off balance and off his back foot, I'm not quick to believe that that was pinpoint accuracy as much as it was getting lucky and having the ball go to the right spot. That's the same type of play that gets him in trouble a lot... I've seen it too much from him. You say coverage broke down like he was throwing to an open WR... he wasn't, the DB over-committed.

Yeah, and he threw it behind the coverage. You see that all the time on the sideline route where QB's throw it short and the WR shuts down his route to let the DB breeze past. The only difference there is the WR had to read his throw. If Holmes misreads it, it falls harmlessly to the ground. So only his guy has a shot at the ball, a good throw when the other team has pressure on the pocket.

That was a pretty bad call. Technically, it's the right call, but it's totally contrary to the intent of the rule.

Very poor clock management by the Steelers. What's the point of making that throw? Can't afford to cost yourself points in a game like this.

Should be a personal foul for the hit.

I am sure there will be a fine coming for that hit.

A league source who was watching the AFC title game contacted us by e-mail on Sunday night while Ravens’ trainers were tending to running back Willis McGahee, who at the time possibly had sustained a serious head and/or neck injury.

The source was livid regarding the fact that, while McGahee was laying on the turf, the folks who operate the sound system at Heinz Field opted to play rock music over the P.A. system.

Specifically, the selections were “Down On The Corner” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and then “Smooth” by Santana featuring Rob Thomas.

Said the source: “There is a player on the field who may have suffered a life changing injury and the Steelers are playing party music. There are about five teams in the league that would engage in such horrific behavior. All others would cease all entertainment.

“‘Down on the corner’ . . . uh, there’s a man down on the field. About twenty-five to twenty-seven teams would cease all entertainment. Oh, now it’s a Santana song. This is beyond offensive. . . . Most teams would fire them on the spot. It’s disgusting.”

The source is on the money. The Steelers should address this situation immediately, so that it doesn’t happen when players are injured in the future.

And it would have been nice, as a commenter pointed out, to hear someone/anyone on the podium during the presentation of the Lamar Hunt Trophy express concern for McGahee, who was still willing to give his all at a time when the cause was all but lost.
