Yankees Sign Kevin Cash

The Yankees have reportedly signed Kevin Cash to a minor league deal.

 

It's surprising that Cash, who was non-tendered 11 days ago, would be so quick to sign with a team that would prefer to have no use for him at all. He'd be the backup to Jose Molina if Jorge Posada isn't ready for Opening Day.

If Posada cannot catch, then Cash gets a backup gig on a team destined for the playoffs. If Posada can catch, then Cash may just ask for his release

I made a thread yesterday for the Cash signing, as well. It's all gravy though, if a mod wants to combine them go for it, I dont think there's many, if any posts in that one anyway.
