Oh, that. Yeah, I guess so, but that hasn't become injuries yet and the Sox are pretty good at making adjustments if they are needed. I know his motion was a concern when he was drafted, but they've been watching him move through the system without need to change it significantly. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

But aren't most of the Sox pitchers good at holding runners? I mean if he hits wouldn't that out weigh the occasional SB against him? I mean it's not like teams are stealing 5+ bags most night anyways.

Craig Hansen?

I know i was his camp that changed the motion but the Sox should have kept closer tabs.

Even if Salty ended up being the worst player of all time, the unintentional comedy of hearing Jerry Remy try to pronounce his last name would be off the charts. We need to make this happen.

On a serious note it's an intriguing possibility. He obviously has some parts of his game he needs to improve upon, but I think he could be a solid player.

I remember going to a few Mississippi Braves games (Atlanta's AA affiliate) a couple summers ago when he was 20 or 21 and he was absolutely crushing the ball.

What's your opinion of Carlos Beltran?

A guy that with the Redsox would win a championship. Guy is a beast wins a gold glove every year. Wish we had him. The Mets f***ing blow TK, He carries that team imagine this guy with real Robins?

He has 3 Gold Gloves. You really have a problem with the hyperbole.

lol @ only 3. How many does Ellsbury have? Or your boy coveli? How many 25+ 100 rbi seasons does Coveli and Ellsbury have? Not saying that our guys suck but they would be Beltrans cleat shiner if he was a Bosox player.

Strawman x1000. We weren't discussing either of those players. I was simply pointing out your error.

Indeed.

In other notes, whoever says they'd rather have Gerald Laird over Salty needs to stop, think, organize his ideas, and then come to the sudden realization that Laird SUCKS and is not an adequate starting catcher.

And while Salty may end up being a bust, he sure as hell has more upside than Laird, By.A.Landslide.

Laird actually had a decent year. And TK asked me my opinion on Belted Beltran. So I gave it. 3 years in a row he has won a gold glove if not 3/4. Solid player.

Enlighten me as to how a .727 OPS in that shoe box of a ballpark is a decent year?

Unless you can make a solid argument on his defense and game-calling, i'm not buying.

Laird is a solid catcher who wouldnt embarass himself in the 8 or 9 hole. He's also 28 and 2 of his last 3 yrs havent been awful offensively. Listen, I think Salty's offensive potential is much higher than Laird's. But Laird as a catcher is a finished product. A defensive minded catcher who can hit at times. There is no doubt that if you get him, he's your catcher for the next 5 yrs.

Salty OTOH is a question mark all around. He's shown good patience, but hasnt hit with consistency above A+ ball. He has also been described by scouts as being terrible defensively. Slow feet, poor mechanics, inaccurate arm, etc. He's an absolutely awful defender. So much so, that most people think he's gonna be a 1b. He does have great potential offensively, but can you tell me that he's worth a guy with the potential of Michael Bowden, when he might end up being a 1b? Cause if he didnt have catcher attached to his resume, his worth would plummet

I'll agree with you on the fact that he's not nearly a finished product, and is a huge project.

Now.....neither he nor Bowden are proven commodities at the ML level, and with the current state of catching in the league, if you get a chance to acquire a catcher with upside, you take it, because he might wind up a 1st baseman, yes, but he may also develop into a superstar.

Isn't that the beauty of baseball?

You gotta take your chances......
