"The New York Yankees declined their 2009 options on first baseman Jason Giambi and pitcher Carl Pavano, making the pair eligible for free agency."

"Also on Tuesday, Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte was quoted as saying he would like to return to New York next season. Pettitte had said late in the season that would likely be his decision."

I see Giambi going to just 1 of 2 teams' date=' the Blue Jays or back in Oakland[/quote']

Even though, imho opinion, he'd also be a good fit for the Twins, they need power, and Giambi can supply it, he'd be nice backup for Morneau.

I still think there's an outside chance he returns to the Yankees, but that's a slim possibility. If not I think Oakland is a lock, especially considering they re-hired their former strength coach Bobby Alejo, who was also Giambi's personal trainer and followed him to the Yankees only to be let go when MLB issued new policies regarding personal trainers and their access to the clubhouse.

Oakland has this fellow named Daric Barton. I doubt Beane gives up on him after one year.

The American League also has this position known as the DH.

Pavano. The end of an error.

As a Red Sox fan, a baseball fan, and a fan of humor in general, I'd like to thank you, Carl, for giving me endless hours of hysterics whenever I talk or think about what you have become as a Yankee.

As a Connecticut resident, f*** you for making sure that the best known current Connecticut-born players in MLB now are John McDonald and Rajai f***ing Davis.

Oh yeah, and the soon-to-be retired Brad Ausmus.

EDIT: I should reiterate that I mean active players. I mean, we still have Mo Vaughn.

It was a tale of two seasons for Pavano. He stumbled down the stretch' date=' that is no secret. [b']But getting 200IP at 100 ERA+ isnt bad at all. [/b] I'd hope for better, but that is certainly good.

It's quite good in fact. But he didn't throw a combined 200 innings in his 4 year contract.
