adds MLB depth. When he is on, Mitre has a good sinker/slider combo. Maybe they are banking on us having a good amount of luck with Wang and the possibility that his issues were due to injury and not suckitude. Its low risk and at the very least, it attempts to prevent Ponson III

Cashman, wtf? Mitre is a poor pitcher in the NL (even when he pitched in Marlins' pitchers park)--Tommy John surgery that wont have him ready until July or August... and he gets a guaranteed 1 year contract for an AL East team, with an option year??

HE was one of Girardi's boys in Florida. I doubt he gets even the chance to make major contributions to the big club though. It's whatever, justadds depth. Can never have enough pitching.
