WEEI is talking about one of the writers didn't include Dped in his vote. He gets ten votes and Dped didn't make his top 10......wow.

Congrats Dped! So that's a MVP, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger all in one year for a 2nd baseman!

Yeah, I just noticed that in the balloting. Anyone know how to get a hold of the individual writer's ballots?

You have to have a serious agenda to keep him out of your top-10.

Here's a link to the ballot results.

What a tremendous accomplishment for that guy, and a nice job by the voters IMO, given that his numbers weren't astounding in the traditional sense, but were very, very impressive across the board, especially for a second baseman.

Congrats Dustin!

Why is this surprising? The Baseball Writers are idiots. I personally think it was Youk without question, but honestly...how can you be surprised?

This same group of fools had Edinson Volquez finish 4th this year in the Rookie of the Year voting. Why is this a problem, you might ask?

Edinson Volquez was a second-year player this year.

Yup, the award voting is awful.

The guy who left Pedroia off is the same guy who included Bartlett.

I believe the culprit is Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. I heard the tail end of an interview with him today, WEEI tracked him down. It sounded like an interesting interview.

Grant's List:

1. Youkilis

2. K-Rod

3. Morneau

4. Hamilton

5. Quentin

6. A-Rod

7. Lee

8. Mauer

9. Sizemore

10. Pena

wut...Good thing Pedroia actually won. According to the audio, he used OPS, BA w/ RISP and Clutch hitting as his basis for voting. Which are basically the only stats in which he doesn't deserve the award. Conspiracy!!1!

EDIT: For bonus, the guy is a douche.

I actually think the WEEI contingent comes across like douchebags here. Grant acknowledges time and time again that he was mistaken but in typical Big Show fashion, he gets shouted down.

The Big Show rationale was pretty horrible, as well.

"STRIKEOUT WTF STRIKEOUTS SUK DNT U KNOW THAT LOL WAIT WE LIKED ORTIZ IN 2005, EVEN THO HE STRIKES OUT LOL OOPS."

I also don't like the idea that writers don't consider MVP, because they don't play on a winning team. According the Big Show, Albert Pujols should not have won the MVP. The Cardinals couldn't pitch, and that was obviously Pujols' fault.

Yeah the WEEI'ers were douchebags too' date=' but Grant seemed annoying defensive. Is that how they always act with guests (I don't listen much).[/quote']

Only with guys they know won't be back on again. I'll credit Grant for actually coming on the air though

One unintentionally funny parts of that interview was when Grant said: "The things I value when I vote are getting on base and scoring runs" ... then Merloni responds "He scored 118 runs" Then the awkward silence in-sues.
