Cliff lee. its a no brainer

 

has the best ERA , 2nd in IP at 223 and leads in wins,although I think Halladay makes it a close 2nd

Krod is overated,he shouldn't get 1 vote

Yeah, Cliff Lee is my obvious choice. Led MLB in VORP for pitchers, wins, ERA, BB/9, adjusted ERA. 2nd in WHIP and 3rd in K/BB.

It's gotta be Cliff Lee. Top 3 in BB/9 and K/BB will help you out alot in this league.

 

Great season by Dice-K, it's going to be overlooked by many people outside of this area but he had a hell of a year.

One thing I love about these stats is that we can present them exactly the same way for pitchers as we do for batters. All the same metrics, all calculated and presented exactly the same way. The only difference is that negative numbers are good for pitchers, positive numbers are good for batters.

Roy Halladay was phenomenal. He was a groundball pitcher who gave up eight fewer runs than average on ground balls! Kudos to that Toronto infield. Tim Lincecum struck out an amazing 29 percent of batters who faced him. Combined with a 10 percent walk rate, that means that only 60 percent of the batters who faced him batted a fair ball. No wonder he gave up less than average on every kind of batted ball.

Fair argument. but we all know the writers vote. So W's, K's, ERA will be taken into consideration heavily. PLus it's a good comeback story, and we all know how sentimental the writers can get....

I'd pick Lee too but IMO it's pretty close between Lee and Halladay.

It's always close with Halladay. He's probably, at least IMO, the best all around starting pitcher in the game today. He could easily get it with no contention from anyone, but with the year Lee had he most certainly deserves it. Hard to believe Doc only has one Cy though.

i dont see why k-rod should be considered for the cy young...yeah he set a record for saves but it doesnt mean that he as valuable as the other pitchers
