Or beleive it or not they could actually call this game as it is and award the Phils the WS champs..but obviously it wont happen

If they delay it, it probably will not get picked up again. The forecast calls for rain through the entire night. Either muddle through or suspend it for tomorrow.

The Rays tied it in the 6th.

 

Even if the Phils won it, I can't imagine, from a PR perspective, that they would end the World Series on a shortened game.

It dosent matter. the Phils were leading after 5 ,the rays scored in the 6th where the Phils didn't have a chance to bat witch would actually make Philly the winner

 

But again they wont let it happen . I just mentioned that because I didn't know there was such a rule that would make the Philly's a winner in a tie game

No, it means its tied. You can't just wipe the 6th inning off the board. If they can't resume play tonight, they do so tomorrow and pick up right where they left off.

Either way I can't imagine them actually doing that. The Rays (and basically everyone else besides the Phillies) would go ballistic.

They won't do it, but it is the rule. If the home team doesn't get their ups in a game the road team ties it up in the top of the inning, the score reverts to the last complete inning.

yeah at this point of the game theres only 2 options .

1. make the Phils WS champions by calling the game

2. play the rest tomorrow

 

So obviously If they cant play it tonight,they'll resume it tomorrow

Tomorrow night looks playable. Forecast calls for few showers/wind early on (8-9), then no more precip from 10 on. Won't be pretty, but not nearly as bad as tonight.

Christina Kahrl reports that its officially called for tonight, and will be finished tomorrow at an undetermined time (probably around 8).

Will be interesting to see who pitches. Do the Rays send Price out there for a few innings? Shields would be on 4 days rest, but then you can't use him in Game 6. They used Jackson last night too. Same dilemma for the Phils with Brett Myers.
