Posted by Matt Porter, Globe Correspondent September 27, 2008 12:37 PM

Here's the slate for the ALDS, where the Red Sox will renew acquaintances with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim:

Game 1: Wed., Oct. 1 @ Anaheim, TBS

Game 2: Fri., Oct. 3 @ Anaheim, TBS

Game 3: Sun, Oct. 5 @ Boston, TBS

Game 4: Mon., Oct. 6 @ Boston*, TBS

Game 5: Wed., Oct. 8 @ Anaheim*, TBS

Why bitch? This is the best schedule the Sox could play' date=' they don't need a 4th starter.[/quote']

Exactly. I couldn't be happier with the schedule we've got.

Plus, it just so happens my off days at work next week are Wed/Fri, so I'll be able to catch Games 1 and 2 no problem. Definitely a relief because trust me, I was worried.

By the way, anyone have a clue what game times we're looking at here? With the first 2 games being on the West coast I'm guessing 8 or 9 central time. Surely it'll be a prime time game?

I know its probably a good thing for the sox, but dont you hate waiting a day in between these games?

I could see 4pm start times for the LA games

I bet one of them is a late nighter though. Can't have two weekday day games there. In 2003 vs Oakland there was a 10 PM, 3 PM and 8 PM IIRC. In 2004 vs LAA, we had a day and a night too. Don't remember if Game 4 in the ALDS last year was scheduled at night. So yeah, a day and a night for the first 2 games makes sense. We'll see.

Lackey will be nails. He's one guy that knows when to get the job done. The Guy that I need to step up is Big Daddy Valde. Hey wait a minute, this isn't Angels talk?

its one thing to post something twice, its another when the thing you post the second was the reason this thread was created...

Halos wont need 5. How sweet it would be to do it in your yard.

the angels were stupid. They had the opportunity to choose the schedule and they chose the one that eliminated the 4th starter. The Angels have an ace, but their strength is in their rotation depth. If they played it another way, needing to use 4 starters, then game 4 would have been a heavy mismatch

The depth at the #4 slot is an option between Jered Weaver and Jon Garland. Meh, I can see why they didn't have ants in their pants to "take advantage" of that "depth". Heavy mismatch? More like heavy flow day for Jacko.

I think they chose the scheduling option that they did because it allows the back of their bullpen, the real strength of the pitching staff, pitch in all 5 games without a concern about lack of rest.

Game 1- Jon Lester vs John Lackey

Game 2- Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Ervin Santana

Game 3- Josh Beckett vs Joe Saunders

*Game 4- Jon Lester vs John Lackey

*Game 5- Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Ervin Santana

Still feeling confident that theyll get this done, not as easy as last year of course

Bingo. I was scared shitless we were gonna have to roll Wakey or Byrdman out there against Jered Weaver. Not a good feeling, to say the least. This is much better.
