No Mo for Sox Series; Out with Sore Shoulder

Recommended Posts

Mariano Rivera has been shut down for the season because of a sore shoulder and will have an MRI.

So Joe Girardi was lying. And not for the first time. And with absolutely nothing to gain. That Rivera pitched three days in a row twice in a 10-day span probably had something to do with his recent soreness. He ends the year with the second-best ERA (1.43) and best WHIP (0.68) of his career. Joba Chamberlain will close in his place this weekend.

how bad would that suck for Yankee fans if this is serious?

the NYT article said he might need arthroscopic surgery, he'd be ready for Spring Training.

The bigger story is why Girardi consistently lies to the media about his players' injuries.

It's truly amazing that he has pitched for this many years without a serious arm injury. I don't cheer for injuries, but without MO the Yankee demise will continue to get worse.

Seems there's a discrepancy between what he told friends vs. what he told the Yankees? In Boston that'd be a huge deal, with some jackass writer going off with wild assumptions about friction and such.

Somewhere Dan Shaughnessy is miffed.

I hate the Boston press, I really hate shank and I think Gerry Callahan is a f***ing faggot.

Boy that Karen Guregian is a piece of ass

"I wouldn't put Mo in a situation to hurt himself," Girardi said. "Mo is expected to be back (today in Boston)."

Girardi and Cashman said Rivera will rejoin the team tonight at Fenway Park and could be available to pitch against the Red Sox.

why the f*** would they even think about pitching him this weekend?

This weekend is their post season

no, this weekend is meaningless

they would pitch their MVP with a sore shoulder in a meaningless game?
