Anyone know what the deal is with the records? It's as if we've played 10 games already. Says I'm 1-6-3. Why doesn't it just say 0-1-0? What's the deal?

I'm not in the league, but if there are 10 categories, its how many categories you won-lost-tied in that matchup.

It's different in hockey. Your record goes by categories won instead of by matchup won.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. So in that case, you could really make up (or lose) a lot of ground from week to week it appears.

Yeah. In other fantasy sports, they haven't put all contribution on a standard point scale. Therefore, you compete in multiple categories each week. It opens the door to more strategy than in FFB. In FFB you are pretty much handcuffed to the heavy component of the scoring system (yardage or TDs). In multi-category sports, you can focus on a set number of categories or go for a balanced approach.

Don't know how many of yall are keeping up, but I have to say, after 2 weeks... my team has been terrible. I still think they are good and will get back on track though. Alfredsson and Zetterberg (my top 2 picks) have been banged up but are back now. Thanks to SOTK, I'm not in dead last though!

It's a pretty cool league although a valid gripe would be that PIMs, shots on goal and assists are weighted equally with goals, goalie's wins, and +/-. IMO, there should be a scale where stats such as GAA and goalie's wins are given more weight.

Timmy Thomas...back to back shutouts.

 

He's one of my fantasy goalies (Melrose Mullets), and the way he's playing...and the way Manny isn't...I could be looking at him starting 65% of the games this year. Even a .500 winning % would mean 25 or more wins...not too shabby. I have the "good" problem now of not knowing which guy to start and having, at least once a week probably, a good goalie riding the pine while the other two play. May have to move one at some point.

Just so you know RC, there's an IR slot that opens up if your player is on IR. You can put Zubov there and pickup another defenseman to ride out his injury. I'm mulling over an offer for one of your goalies. I may send you an offer later today.

I feel for you...unless you're the guy who pulled off the Pominville and Mezaros for Hossa trade....then all sympathy is off. Was I the only one in the league that voted against that trade?

Turco has got to get back on track though. I don't have a whole lot of other options at goalie at this point. I'm excited to have Marc-Andre Fleury now though. He's a stud.

That's a huge pick up. I was almost wondering if you were the GM for both teams and were screwing one team for the benefit of the other!!! That, IMO, is an extremely lopsided trade.

 

As far as Brodeur going down, I think I'm less "lucky to be in 1st" than I am happy that I went after 3 good goalies in the draft and held off on trading one of them. Now I need a huge season out of both Lundquist and Thomas.

 

No doubt, though, losing Marty was probably the biggest loss for any team in our league so far, since acquiring him in the first round meant foregoing so many other talented players. Bad break for me...we'll just have to let it play out and hope for the best.
