Doesn't follow' date=' and even so you don't throw a guy who's barely played in the NHL in as your starter when you've got a quality alternative sitting there right in front of you. Or did we learn nothing at all from Hannu Toivonen?[/quote']

No one is saying make Rask the starter next season. What I am advocating is not signing Thomas to a deal that doesn't put Rask in Boston as the starter until 2013.

Also, Auld is not a bad goaltender in his own right and his Boston tenure represents a small sample size

Irrelevant - he put up excellent numbers in Julien's system and I think we can all agree Rask is better than Auld.

I was at yesterday's B's - Rangers game.

Great game, Thomas was huge in net.

Avery was fairly quiet most of the game, he tried a few times to entice a cheap penalty, but didn't do much...then after looking over his shoulder to see who was around, he clips Thomas in the head with his stick...as Thomas goes after him he runs away, as is typical.

I'd have no problem with Avery if he would at least sack up and fight after he cheap shots someone, but right now he just looks like a f***ing girl doing those stupid things.

Right. He does s*** then leaves it for his teammates to clean up the mess. Clarkson of NJ challenged him the other day, he wouldn't fight though, so Clarkson threw him around like a rag doll. I remember once Avery started some s***, then skated away and let his LA teammate get ruined by Todd Fedoruk and the announcers praised the teammate for having the courage that Avery did not have.

Of course the Rangers fans still say he is effective and plays a role, etc. but Saturday it all backfired because after the incident the Rangers had nothing.

Scott Gomez by the way was at center ice after the skirmish calmed down and he was looking up at the replay...he looked pissed as f*** with Avery's actions. I guarantee you that despite what the players say, they have no respect for Avery.

How far do you guys think they're going this year? I'm extremely nervous about playing either the Rags (Lundqvist can win a series by himself) or even the Habs (just because they're the Habs, and if we lose to them THIS year it would be the worst loss of them all.) I want to avoid the Penguins in the 2nd round, even if we handled them pretty well this year. Flyers, Canes and Devils are teams I think we can handle. Bruins-Caps east final would be epic, and Bruins-Sharks would be epicer (yes i'm making up words.) Now I'm really getting ahead of myself.

That being said, I've been looking forward to the playoffs next week for a loooooooooong time.

The Flyers would be trouble, they're big and physical and deep. I believe their goaltending might be suspect, and they do take a ton of penatlies, that'll be their achille's heel, IMO.

Caps are very much like the B's, only with a little less 'D' and goaltending and more explosive offensive players (Ovechkin, Semin, Greene).

I've seen the B's win the conference and get bounced in the first round more than once in my day, so every opponent concerns me. That said, I do think they have a chance to win a couple of rounds, after that it's a crapshoot and anything can happen. If they get out of the first round relatively unscathed, watch out. If they get taken to 7 in a hard fought series, they could go into the next round in rough shape.

Look, teams wouldn't be in the playoffs if they weren't dangerous. We're the 1 seed, I don't think we need to be too concerned about cherry-picking our opponents. Doesn't mean we're any kind of unbeatable, but it does mean that they're the ones that need to look out for us this time.

And if we're bounced out, I have little reason to doubt that we'll be back next year for another try. As long as it's not an embarrassing first round exit, I'm set.

I just want to get hockey back on the map in Boston. People will still doubt the Bruins until they approach the success of the other franchises in Boston, and that would entail of at least getting to the conference finals. Otherwise people will continue the knock them (and rightfully so) for not having playoff success. I remember the atmosphere in the City in the days between Game 6 and 7. That was only two days, i want that to go on for a couple months.

what a game. I don't even know where to start. I dont blame Lucic for going after Komisarek. If it was a game that meant something, different story. But if theyre gonna keep hitting us from behind, they have to pay for it somehow. It's looking like it might be another Bruins-Canadiens series, which would be good for hockey, bad for my heart rate... But there's gonna be a target on Lucic's back if there is a series, and he needs to keep his cool.

Lucic's a young hotblood, I don't think he has a "cool" to begin with, makes it hard to keep one.

All I want to ask of Lucic is that he keep it within the rules next time.

The Canadiens style of play once they fell behind was very calculated. They sought to get under the B's skins and draw penalties and it worked. If they are the Bruins 1st round opponent, they'll try the same thing, and the B's, from Chara and Lucic all the way down, had better take a hit and not retaliate or else we're in trouble. The Canadiens season hinges on their power play and the play of Price.

The habs had a disappointing year i am told. I wouldnt know what to expect from them.

there was a time when i knew everyone on their team including the best 10 who were up and coming from the nova scotia voyageurs.

alas the days of Marc Tardif Real Cloutier and Bunny Larocque are gone.

It hurts the Quebecois that the Yankees have more titles than les habs do and the fact is in the forseeable future it isnt getting any easier there...By 2015 hockey will be an American only sport with perhaps the exception being Toronto unless the Government in Quebec wants to get involved.

The dollar will eventually gain strength and put the loon out of the hockey business.

Watching Bruins in 2 now, the part where Thornton and O'Byrne get in their "fight" in the 2nd, Thornton jawing at O'Byrne in the penalty box was fantastic.

"I swear to f***ing God, I'll f***ing choke the life out of you you piece of s***"

I thought the Habs played pretty well. I'm just upset Gainey decided not to have Georges Laraque in the lineup at the expense of the worthless sack of s*** that is Ryan O'Byrne
