I don't understand the need to bring in Delcarmen -- our de facto setup man -- for a junktime inning.

Wake had only thrown 80 pitches. Someone please explain?

Pitch count may have been to high on Wakefield.

he likes to bring MDC in during garbage time to boost his confidence to prepare him for yet another shot at setup duties

80 pitches is too high for Wakefield??!

Didn't know that that was the pitch count. If that's the case then I don't see why he couldn't have gone another inning or complete game for that matter.

Masterson's looking pretty good.

Think he'll be bullpen fulltime or is he gonna make a rotation revival?

Masterson's got good stuff and can probably do OK in either role, so it'll be based on team needs more than on what he's up for.

I think he's a starter. All evidence points to him being able to start effecitvely. But if the team needs a bullpen guy, he's got the stuff for that too.

Yeah, I see him better in the pen for now. It's Buchholz that needs the boot.

So 80 pitches with a 6 run lead...

Reason why Wakefield was pulled??

Francona said they don't want to overload him down the stretch and wanted to get the bullpen guys some work.

I can buy that. Wakefield might be our #3 right now. They need him.

Yeah' date=' I see him better in the pen for now. It's Buchholz that needs the boot.[/quote']

And who will pitch in Buchholz's place?

Devern Hansack has been fantastic in his last 10 starts.]

After a couple hiccups, Edgar Martinez has officially made himself interesting as a starter too.

Regardless against KC, great to see the Sox win a series on the road. Wakefield was actually awarded a W in yet another quality start of his. Ellsbury just might be breaking out of slump, another 2 hits by Bay. Lowell hitless again, not that long until Bay switches spots in the lineup with him. Lowrie is up to 12 RBIs in the past 6 games! He's been deadly with RISP this month. Im liking the bullpen since the Break

Hansack is. I don't know about Martinez.

Oh -- and don't knock KC too hard. We took a series against a team that was playing very hot before we came to town. They've got some problems but we definitely had a very good chance to lose this series.

Remember last year when we went into Chicago and people were questioning how good the team was? Yeah, they left Chicago with a 4-game beatdown by a combined score of 45-7.

I wouldn't mind that again.
