Manny Ramirez|.299|.398|.529|.927|20|68|140|15|69|3.94[/table]

Fielding Stats:

Fielding Bible (Courtesy SoSH):

Bay -1

Ramirez -15

RZR:

Bay .864

Ramirez .817

Baserunning (Courtesy SoSH):

Bay +23

Manny -4

Keep in mind Bay will be 12.5 million cheaper next season which will allow the Sox to address needs in the offseason.

Is he Manny? No. Is he very, very close in terms of production? Yes.

Face it folks - when looking at the whole picture, their production is not that different.

By Batting Runs, courtesy BBRef, which are linear weights (most accurate) relative to league average, Manny is at 22.2 to Bay's 21.2.

Over 110 games, their offensive contibution is only separated by a run.

Add the baserunning and defense, and I like this.

The only complaint I've seen that has some validity is concern over an AL/NL adjustment.

What do people make of Bay's poor performance in 2007? He played in 145 games and had just 21 homers' date=' was he hurt or something?[/quote']

Yes.

Or his 0 HR performance in the Home Run Derby a few years back.

Good thing that is directly tied to a team's wins and losses.

I notice sarcasm is just an unknown language 'round these parts.

All right then...

Pardon me, but your earlier comment doesn't warrant me considering the potential existence of sarcasm:

Honestly if it's Manny' date=' Hansen, and Moss for Bay [b']I will be so f***ing pissed at this team I won't know what to do with myself. I won't f***ing watch them for the rest of the season if this is true.[/b]

I wouldn't trade Manny for Bay. I would hardly trade the other two for Bay. I don't rate him at all. This is horse s***. f***ing horse s***. Pathetic trade.

Your point?

Is there anything I can do about the trade now?

No, so I might as well just be pissed about it and that's all I can do. I'm really surprised at your lack of respect for another member to honestly think I'm that stupid. Christ.

I'm glad that you have cleared this up, but that comment was enough to raise question whether you were joking or not.

Like CB said, how was I supposed to know you were being sarcastic?

And how does that show a lack of respect? It's a legit question.

How did I do this?

I already said. Lack of respect to think I'm that unintelligent.

On second thought, he's right.

UN, I think you got lumped in with the other two who were having that kind of a reaction.

UN is actually a very good poster.

No need to of course, it was understandable, I'm just not a f***ing moron.

Manny was my favorite player, I never said anything but that. It's really hard to let him go, and I can't really help but almost hate Bay for replacing him. All bias aside I really don't think Bay will ever be as good as Manny was. Was. I don't know that anyone's expecting him to be, but nevertheless.

And thank you Crespo.

Everyone will have an initial defiant reaction. It is only natural. Hell, when Tino came here, he was booed incessantly after he struggled out of the gate. The rope is short when you replace future HOFers or beloved captains. Whomever replaces Jeter will get the same response. Bay has the goods. If given a good sample size, he'll produce. Nothing like what Manny used to, but he'll produce. The question is, will he regress to what he was last yr or will he thrive on the pressure and enjoy being a cog in a strong offensive machine. Time will tell

I think the notion to boo Bay is funny. Yes he's replacing Manny now (no easy task for anyone) but for some, like it or not he's a Red Sox for at least the next 1.5 seasons. He's going to rake, and I plan on cheering him on while Im at tomorrow nights game. Hope he hits a homerun away to deafen the gloomy gusses

Hey, I've gotten a ton of those shots directed at me for about three days now, too.

Welcome to the club! :D

Manny is a great player and if the dumbass red sox trade him they needed to get someone that would match his ability and they didnt, they got jason bay who is nothing compared to Manny. The Red Sox Made a very bad trade.
