Good trade for Tampa. I will say this, Nieman and Brignac are stale as prospects. Their hype probably peaked about a year ago, just like Tabata and Dorf on Baseball. This lends credence to the, "The Pirates Management is Retarded", line of thinking. It's like they picked up the '07 Baseball America Prospect Handbook for $5 onsale at Amazon.com last week and started making trades from there.

A high level Rays official denied that a deal for Jason Bay with the Pirates was done.

One lone MLB.com beat reporter is still the only one saying that a deal is done, while many others are saying talks are still ongoing. According to the previous report, Bay is on the way to Tampa Bay for Reid Brignac and Jeff Niemann. For what it's worth, Peter Gammons keeps saying that Rays people still think Bay will go to Boston in a Manny Ramirez deal.
