Jets got permission to speak with Favre about bringing him in. I am ridiculously excited about this opportunity for the Jets. I like Clemens, but I think he's a year away from really being ready, and a year under Favre would be good for him.

The Jets have not had a real marquee quarterback since Namath, and the idea that he could be on the team next year is really exciting. Please Tanny, get this done.

Hate to ruin your perception of Namath, but in the history of sports, I can't name a more overrated athlete.

Personally, I hope Brett Favre plays somewhere other than Green Bay and is terrible. What a great ending that'd be.

I know Namath isn't the greatest quarterback ever, but he was the face of the franchise, and brought some bravado to the Jets that we haven't seen. Favre could do that.

We'll see what happens.

Tampa Bay could be the most likely landing spot

As a Bucs fan I don't know what to think. He would be better than what we have now, but I don't know if I could take the constant media circus 24/7. I already turn the channel when there's more "BREAKING NEWS!!!!" on Favre. :thumbdown

What?

You don't want a huge upgrade at QB, a player who will put Tampa Bay back on the map, all because "I don't know if I could take the constant media circus 24/7."

You are banned from Buccaneer fandom. You make take Jon Gruden with you.

Favre's big arm combined with Galloway's ability to still get deep on defenses? I'd like to see that.

LOL, I should've made myself more clear - Yes, I am sick of hearing about Favre, but I also don't want to give up the 1st round pick, which is what Green Bay is asking for right now. And I don't think Tampa nor any other teams will give them that in the first place. One of the big reasons a lot of teams are staying away from him anyway is that nobody knows if he is going to just come back for 1 year or what. I don't think giving up a high pick for Favre would be worth it, not to mention we're already an aging team.

I'd only give a first round pick for Favre if it was going to put my team over the top.

What team needs an old and aging QB to put them on the playoff map? Exactly.

I'd give nothing more than a second, possibly a 3rd.

And getting Favre would not put the Bucs over the top. Sure he'd make a big splash, but it's not like we'd win the SB or anything.

It should just be a conditional pick. 3rd to start. 2nd if he makes the Pro Bowl. 1st if they win the Super Bowl.

Is that not fair?

Brett Favre needs to to be sent to a deserted island with John Madden and Chris Berman. They obsess over him so much it'd turn into a scene from deliverance.

Or Brokeback Bayou.

I wouldn't mind seeing Favre go to the Jets. It'd make for a good storyline and it also would make the Patriots-Jets games interesting with two of the best QB's ever as division rivals.

WTMJ-TV Channel 4 in Milwaukee, citing two sources, reported that Packers CEO Mark Murphy at least "floated the idea" of paying Brett Favre a package in the neighborhood of $20 million over 10 years to remain retired.

A bribe out of desperation? Favre had to have known that he couldn't accept that deal and keep his status as a revered NFL legend. If this report is true, then someone in Favre's camp would have leaked the offer to the press. Murphy won't discuss details of the meeting, but this is shaping up for an ugly showdown if Favre does report. Jul. 30 - 11:07 pm et

well schill,i honestly feel brett favre is 1 of the most overrated qbs in history but he did have a great year in 07...how this translates to a team with no line and no running game that i know of remains to be seen...are they better with favre than chad pennington ray lucas or richard todd?

ya

for sure

i do want to see belichek humiliate the jets this year and if favre is on their roster i would have no objections watching him leaving the field on the meat wagon...

They have a line and a running game this year. Faneca is an exponential upgrade over the LG of last season, Woody is a solid RT. Thomas Jones is still a good every down back, and Washington is a good fit for the scatback role.

Their one hole is at quarterback, and Favre would address that. Seems less likely that it's going to happen though.

they ran each time he retired and the press conferences that followed.
