And the award for best Stadium hot-dog goes to....

Yankee Stadium!!!

...and Wrigley Field, as they tied for first in a poll released by the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council.

No Fenway Franks, Not Dodger Dogs, but good old Nathan's Famous at the big ballpark in the Bronx :D

After the Yankees and Cubs, the Red Sox came in second, followed by Detroit's Comerica, and then the Dodge Dogs in 4th.

Interesting points about this:

1) There were no details available regarding the survey or at hot-dog.org. Oddly enough, the website blurb giving details on the survey said to access the website itself for more details, an extraordinarily pointless comment.

2) If there was really an exact tie, there was almost certainly a very small sample size.

3) While the polling method and sample selection mechanism aren't cited, there's a very strong correlation between Metro area population and the listed rankings of ballparks. If the polling firm didn't use identical sample sizes for each team's market, there would be bias to larger cities; furthermore, if the polling firm just doubled the sample size for the New York, Chicago and LA MSAs because they each had two teams, then the team with more fans would hold a commanding advantage...and the survey has a tie between the ballparks of the more popular teams in New York and Chicago, with the more popular team in LA finishing fourth even though everybody knows that nachos are the ballpark food of choice in LA.

OTOH, it's nice that Yankees fans find this exciting. Please don't let my academic discussion of how stupid this poll must be ruin your moment. Cherish your victory.

So this is obviously a flawed poll. I didn't find it exciting or anything, I just thought it would be a funny thread. I saw the article and started laughing. Given the reputation of Fenway Franks (it's been about 7 years since I've had one) I wanted to see the Red Sox Nation reaction. lol

I am sure there is a mistake. They meant most expensive hot dog.

Is there a stat for stadium hot dogs, like F-Rank or something?

Haven't had a dog at either Chicago park, but I do love a Chicago style dog. I make my own version at home. Instead of tomato slices and a wedge of dill pickle, I dice everything and make a relish of tomato, onion, dill pickle, and hot pickled banana peppers (I'm not a fan of sweet relish, so I leave that out). Rather than boiling the dogs, I fry them in a pan with butter and lightly toast the buns. Add deli mustard and a dash of Cholula hot sauce on top. Yum.

I can't stand Chicago style hot dogs. Why eat a hot dog if you want to make it an excuse to eat a salad with disgusting green goo on it. I like a regular hot dog with mustard/ketchup depending on my mood.

Ketchup on a hot dog should be a crime that carries mandatory minimums. Besides, why would you want that sickly sweet tomato based goo in favor of actual tomatos?

Salmonella.

I know people claim it's inexcusable, but I sometimes like ketchup on there. Sometimes I even go with a mix of ketchup and mustard. When I'm feeling really frisky I make designs out of them.

Make bologna puke? Isn't bologna just a big hot dog cut into slices? Always tasted that way to me.
