While the strike zone graphic they used on NESN showed that called strike three to Lugo was right on the corner, before my Pitch f/x froze Nauert hadn't called a pitch within six inches of that spot a strike all day.

Tek Sucks ! Tek Sucks ! Tek Sucks !

I don't give a s*** what kind of game caller he is.

In case you did not hear me!

Something is wrong here - i did not get a hate response yet!!

Pardon.

"You appear to be trolling."

Does that count as a "hate response?" :)

Nope - you did not use any two words that start with F and ends with A.

Don't worry - it will come soon.

Once this interleague is over and Francona does not bring up Carter if Papi does not come back - he might have a shot to be 1st worst manager.

Moss is a nice guy. Don't think he can replace Papi.

Ok, well, neither can Chris Carter.

He's not being asked to.

I think once Manny's hammy is OK - he should be in LF and Carter should DH. Bring up Lowrie instead of Moss.

You agree?

Lowrie is better off getting everyday playing time, rather than sitting on the bench.

Nobody can replace Red Sox Nation's image of Big Papi. It is possible to replace the actual contribution of Big Papi's bat.

David Ortiz was batting .252/.354/.486 for 2008 when he was injured. The MLE of Carter's 2008 AAA stats is .272/.326/.495. That's not quite there, but it's pretty darn close, and Carter did nothing in his three PA with Boston to suggest that he'll have any trouble with MLB pitching.

f*** YOU OKAJIMA. f*** YOU. That's it, never can he be trusted in the 8th again. He sucks this year. f***ing ridiculous. These are the ASTROS, they suck and we're going to lose the series to them.

we need a setup guy....Okajima should be the second....lefty option out of the bullpen. I'd rather see Javier Lopez instead of Okajima and thats bad.

Until Okajima figures out the splitter again....don't even think about bringing him into a big situation

Terry Francona chose to put him into the game. He didn't ask for it; he had to pitch to earn his paycheck. :dunno:

Notably, Pitch f/x "malfunctioned" on Lugo's at bat where he got a called strike in a location that Nauert had been calling balls all day.

As an aside, I showed O'Nora as the scheduled umpire--it was changed at game time, I guess. O'Nora umpired at first base two days in a row...that almost never happens.

Moments like this make me speculate regarding the integrity of some individuals in MLB.

Game. Astros win. Boston gets two runs from 15 baserunners. Brandon Moss demonstrates, again, that he can't pinch hit. Okajima lets another inherited baserunner score (he's 12-15 in that regard this year). Terry Francona tallies it up to bad luck.

We need a :banghead: emoticon.

Entering today's game, Hideki Okajima had allowed opposing batters to hit .343/.390/.493 in 77 high-leverage (over 1.50 LEV) plate appearances in 2008. For contrast, Jonathan Papelbon has allowed opposing hitters a batting line of only .216/.259/.314 in such situations.

Entering today's game the Boston pitcher who had been used in, on average, the highest leverage situations in 2008 was not Jonathan Papelbon. It was Hideki Okajima.

FWIW, Terry Francona's D3 will be down around -3.8 tomorrow. This is one big reason why.

Stats intended to measure a managers performance mean absolutely nothing because a manager has very important responsibilities in the clubhouse that can't be measured statistically that have a very real impact on the field. Without Terry Francona, we don't win a world series in 2007. Don't bother.

Pardon, I wasn't in the clubhouse last year. You were? What did he do? How did he save the World Series?

How about Jason Varitek? We've got another thread regarding his intangible contributions. John Farrell? Big Papi? Manny? Schill? Youk? Julio Lugo? Kevin Cash? Was Nelson de la Rosa there, at least in spirit?

Or should I just say, "Don't bother?" :dunno:

How's about this, ksushi: Terry Francona is making game/bullpen management decisions, including those regarding Hideki Okajima, very badly. One would expect Boston to win fewer games than expected by their aggregate performances might suggest because of that. A metric actually measuring that confirms that Boston is doing very badly in that area.

Coincidence? Feel free to believe that.
