i never liked this man who once said in the 80s

""i can say whatever i want because my ratings allow it and the people who run this station dont have the stones to do a thing about it""

has anyone heard what he has said about italians, irish, puerto ricans and other tribes??

the nappy headed ho thing was just nauseating but this latest gem wasnt nearly as offensive or bigoted as some of the other crap i heard him say when wfan was on my radio dial..

al sharpton and these other race baiters have a soft target here

but where were they when Johnny Miller said those sweet things about Rocco the golfer??

those less than subtle jabs against the italians are over the top but evidently its ok because we as a nationality are thicker skinned??

blow me johnny boy

this nation needs an enema, perhaps don imus should be the 1st piece of s*** flushed but theres a long line of people that would follow him down the toilet who have earned it but are hidden under the politically correct radar that doesnt apply to so many of us of the ethnic types that arent protected.

Is this evidence that he truly is a racist/bigot?

Or does he think this is the way to successfully run his program?

Or is Imus just fkn stupid or devoid of self-control?

I think it's a combo of #1 and #3...he's a bigot and he can't reign it in for the good of his program. What a douche.

African Americans are imprisoned at least eight times as often as European Americans

As I understand it, Imus's defense is that he was pointing out the greater likelihood that an African-American would be arrested, not disparaging an African-Americans. The stats are on his side.

Is Imus a bigot? He called a group of predominantly African-American female student athletes "Nappy-haired hos," and that could certainly be used as evidence of racism or bigotry. Unless this more recent well-publicized incident is seen through the lens of that past incident, though, it doesn't necessarily suggest bigotry, but rather a statement of actual truth...and as a statement of truth regarding the arrest and incarceration practices established in a white-majority America, not necessarily an indictment of the conduct of African-Americans themselves.

That was his defense, yes. Not sure I believe that his intention was to point out the plight of the black man...I feel like this might have been an explanation he fabricated, knowing he was in trouble and knowing the stats were on his side.

Understood, but that has to be a feeling--it could very easily have been his intention to "point out the plight of the black man," perhaps to demonstrate his turnaround from his previous biased perspectives.

Just as it could have been his momentary intention to point out that he considers most or all African American NFL players to be street criminals in their off time...:dunno:

The best part of this whole fiasco? When he pointed out that the Producer of his show is black. The classic I'm-not-a-racist defense.

I don't think it's racism when someone fits a particular stereotype and they are ragged on for it. Didn't gangsta Pacman have a hand in shooting someone and leaving them paralyzed because he wanted to show how much of a "playa" he is?

Politically correct retards are gay.

I find Imus refreshing even though I hate talk radio.

i find the entire new speak of political correctness f***ing nauseating.

grow up,get a pair of stones and give up the victim card as a source of income

He may have been speaking to racial profiling, but in the wake of the Rutgers scandal he needs to be more aware of the racial overtones of what he says. By not doing so he's only f***ed himself.

Still don't understand why a guy who knows there is a target on his back already would say stupid s*** like this. Does he wanna get fired? Does he need the attention? WTF?

he has never been able to control his mouth

this guy has done more good for blacks with his vast charities and his home in new mexico than jesse and al have combined yet his mouth is all people know him for.

perhaps he should shut it down,do some spot work for radio occasionally and start thinking about the rest of his life off the stage.

some people get addicted to the spot light and this man seems to be one of them

who needs the aggravation at this stage

Personally I don't find his comments insulting, I've always tended to view his remarks as part of the show. At the same time, everyone knows that the Sharptons and Jacksons of the world are listening and waiting for a chance to to pounce. Guys like Imus keep giving them opportunities, and that is what pisses me off more than anything.

The PC crowd revels in their demise and if they want to stay on the air, there are limits. All of the charitable activity in the world doesn't get a guy off the hook when he goes where Imus went...unfortunate...but that's the way it is.

He gets paid to make these controversial remarks... without them he has no appeal to anybody.

This guy has a history of racism, even before the Rutgers comments... this is nothing new.
