OAKLAND -- After left-hander Jon Lester was diagnosed with anaplastic large-cell lymphoma in 2006, he frequently credited his parents for helping his recovery with their amazing support. Lester revealed in an ESPN Sunday Conversation that the tide has now turned, and this time he is doing the supporting.

Best prayers to Lester's family. Very difficult thing to work through, cancer. From what I've read, the prognosis is good. It's slow growing which can give doctors time to put it into remission.

Best of luck.

From what I understand it isn't life threatening but he will have it for the rest of his life and have to deal with treatments. Could be a lot worse. The bad news will be if it spreads. I'm sure they will monitor it very well, and since it is slow growing, I imagine they can keep it at bay. Hooray modern medicine.

Cancer is so confusing. I didn't know there were kinds that were sort of bad but not all the way bad but that could turn bad and that could be treated.

Best of luck to the man.

It amazes me, with the amount of time I spend watching, reading about, and listening to sports that I still miss stories about the Sox. This was one.

My prayers and wishes of luck to the Lester family.
