I went pretty deep in studying the bracket/teams today, and I only came up with my 1st round picks. Anyways, here they are:

East:

UNC over Mt St Mary/Coppin State

Indiana over Arkansas

Notre Dame over George Mason

Washington State over Winthrop

St Joseph's over Oklahoma

Louisville over Boise State

Butler over South Alabama

Tennessee over American

Midwest:

Kansas over Portland State

UNLV over Kent State

Villanova over Clemson

Vanderbilt over Siena

Kansas State over USC

Cal State Fullerton over Wisconsin

Davidson over Gonzaga

Georgetown over UMBC

South:

Memphis over Texas-Arlington

Mississippi State over Oregon

Michigan State over Temple

Pittsburgh over Oral Roberts

Kentucky over Marquette

Stanford over Cornell

St Mary's over Miami

Texas over Austin Peay

West:

UCLA over Mississippi Valley State

BYU over Texas A&M

Drake over Western Kentucky

UConn over San Diego

Baylor over Purdue

Xavier over Georgia

West Virginia over Arizona

Duke over Belmont

I'll edit with 2nd round picks (and beyond probably) tomorrow.

Means I know more about the teams/matchups' date=' making it a more enjoyable tourney to watch.[/quote']

oh, absolutely makes it more enjoyable when you know a little more abou it, but never translates to good brackets

what the f*** has gotten into Georgia and why did I convince myself not to pick them? Come on' date=' Xavier...[/quote']

seriously... i honestly thought they were going to flame out. they're a .500 mediocre team in a conference which had a mediocre year.

MAN UP XAVIER

Posted

They're hitting everything and I can remember about four or five times when Xavier's failed to grab a loose ball or rebound that they've gotten their hands on that went right to Georgia and led to points for the Bulldogs or could've been points for Xavier.

This Gaines kid can play, which I say as he airballs a turnaround, fade-away in traffic.

Down to 6... again. But everytime Xavier cuts into the lead, Georgia hits a big shot...

edit: And Xavier leads 52-49. They turned up the D and got to the line on the other end.

Started out 3 for 3 (then again, who didn't?), but this second wave of games is going to kill me. I have Pitt, who's rolling, but I also have #11 Kentucky, who's down 2, #11 Baylor who's down 16, and #9 Kent State, who managed to score 10 points in the first half.

At the very least, I can be fortunate that I don't have any of these teams surviving the round of 32.

Just hoping Kentucky can give me 2 of 4 for now.

And great, now I have to worry about Jeff Adrien and the SI curse...

If Kentucky could just hang onto the basketball or grab a defensive rebound or two they'd be doing very well... as it is, they can do neither and they trail by six.

Ugh... here I am stuck watching a 76-61 game... and then we'll be stuck with Stanford/Cornell until Mayo and Beasley face off at 7:10.

What a disappointing day so far. When the highlight of the day is Xavier beating Georgia by 12, you know it hasn't lived up to the hype so far.

5/8 in the first wave of games. I need Winthrop and KState to come up big for me.

(And I can never bring myself to root for Duke)

14-2

i had georgia and usc as my losers and f***ing georgia gave up a 20-0 run in the 2nd half

i had a decent day on the wagering end as well

todays games are rather frightening at noon

i like miami over st marys as a pickem

drake is a 5 seed?

i like the hilltoppers of western ky here +4 and to win the game outright

i think gonzaga got so much attention for being underrated that theyve become overrated

davidson -1?

avoiding this like cancer

as for the rest of the slate i like indiana -2 over arkansas

oklahoma -1 over st joes and i love texas to run austin peay off the floor -15 1/2

i played a midnite game in the NIT that started at midnite and the point spread outcome wasnt decided till ohhh 145am

no f***ing sleep again

good luck to all

These early games are looking good for me...

I had Western Kentucky over Drake, Miami over St. Mary's, and Gonzaga over Davidson -- though Gonzaga got kind of screwed with their seeding.

And if Tennessee loses to American, that would be incredible since I had them out in the second round to begin with, while it might just destroy other peoples brackets.

Posted
Davidson with a nice win over Gonzaga' date=' Tennessee escapes an early scare vs American. Miami beat St Marus, Western Kentucky w/ a 7 pt lead over Drake.[/quote']

Stephen Curry scored 30 in the second half.

I wish I knew Gonzaga played the early game when I filled out my bracket.

And what the f*** is wrong with CBS? Why flip to a 15 point game with 23 seconds left when there's a 5 point game with 3 minutes left?

Posted

Western Kentucky needs to learn the finer points of playing with a lead late. Dangerous passes, rushing shots... ugh. Tied with 24.6 seconds left... WKU should get the last shot and they better make it because if this goes to OT they lose by at least 8.

And there goes one of the biggest ******** charge calls I've seen.

Posted

WKy saved themselves. I can't believe I picked that right.

I also have a growing man crush on Stephen Curry dating back to last year. He's SO filthy.

Georgetown (if they get by UMBC) better watch out for them.

Posted

UConn's got so much length... San Diego's having to work for everything on offense -- I think San Diego can keep it close but they'll fatigue and fade out in the second half... uh oh, AJ Price is down. I'm no doctor but if I'm guessing I'd say he's done for a while.

UConn's offense can be painful to watch sometimes.

Posted
I've got WKy beating the winner of this game, so whether UConn or San Diego win, I'm looking prime for an upset in the next round. Like you said, UConn is looking anemic on offense without Price, Austrie and Dyson are gonna need to step it up.

calhoun has been bounced 3yrs in a row by double digit seeds

he was 14-0 in round 1

they were at 1 stretch the hottest team in america

i had them as a gimme throw in on a 5team parlay on the money line..

has calhoun lost it?

when he is on fire in midseason they usually peak now, getting bounced by s*** teams 3 years in a row is mind boggling...this guy has outcoached all the genouses and has been able to recruit in a place where nobody would consider a beacon of energy or even a blip on a map

no offense to my connecticut friends but stoors ct is probably the worst area to recruit this side of syracuse...at least umass amherst has the black power dorms and caters to minorities big time, stoors is a place ive driven by 1000 times and still havent seen it

anyways i now worry about calhouns commitment and or mindset

vandy was the 5th team and a 7pt favorie against mighty sienna

vandy beat the #1 team in the nation last month

tonite they wouldve struggled against the perkins school for the blind

i took indiana tonight and i sort of liked memphis laying 24.5 but after duke porked me last night i am skittish on the big favorites now

This kid Nelson is the most out of control player I've seen get this much playing time from Coach K.
