THIS WAS AN UTTER DISGRACE. BASEBALL NEEDS INSTANT REPLAY RIGHT NOW.

Imagine you were the Padres, or Padres fans. How would you feel knowing that your team got knocked out on a bad call at home plate? This is an utter disgrace. Baseball needs instant replay, as of yesterday.

...

Extra innings never should have happened. Atkins had a homerun.

he never touched the plate

What a fantastic game. Methinks it's going to be that kind of playoffs. Are they playing football now? All the drama is right here.

Like SOTK said, if there was replay, this game never goes to extras.

No it wasn't. It hit the metal pole that is part of the yellow border. Even the fan herself unwittingly confirmed it. I watched it on my DVR 20 times, there was no way that was a homerun.

Baseball needs instant replay. I didn't have a rooting interest in the game at all, but to lose the game on a TERRIBLE call, have your season end, is simply UNACCEPTABLE.

I don't see why managers can't have the one challenge a game rule, similar to the NFL. Simply on fair/foul, and out/safe calls. For me, this ruined an absolutely amazing game.

Imagine for a second this was your team, the Padres. How would you feel?

Having your period? Goddamn dude.

lol, calm down. I'm just ribbing you.

I disagree.

No doubt great win for the Rockies

Eh I dont know about this being the best baseball game I have ever seen. I easily choose game 4 of the ALCS, coming back at Mariano with 2 outs, dave roberts steal, later on capped off by Ortiz's walkoff homerun

All in all that was a damn fine game. Rockies did get robbed a home run. And Gom you better get your vision checked, TBS replayed it as if you were looking from third base, he touched it as he slid the catcher's leg back.

Of course. Not 2003 ALCS Game 7, that went extra innings. Or, if you are old enough, 1986 WS game 6. Nah...those two games can't compare. Of course not.

Baseball needs instant replay. NOW.

That's my theme for this whole off-season.

Don't give me this purist ********. All those that claim to be purists now love the wild card. If you guys are willing to give back 2004, since you wouldn't have been in the playoffs if it wasn't for the wild card, then fine, I'll give you your purist argument. Other than that, it's ********. Jeffrey Maier never happens if there was instant replay, and you know what? Fine, even if it went against my team. This call ranks only below Don Denkinger in 1985. An utter disgrace.

Umm I was responding to schillingouttheKs who said this game was the best baseball game he may have ever seen

What are you talking about? Why would I consider those 2 games you mentioned as better games than one I mentioned? They are only good from Yankees fans' point of view

I think the best postseason game is yet to come, when the Guardians sweep you skanks right outta October.

What an idiot. For sheer drama, nothing matched those games. Even 2001 World Series game 7 was amazing. Grow up Kilo. Just because a game doesn't involve your beloved Sox winning, doesn't mean it isn't great. What a f***ing moron.

But you cant accept that game 4 of the ALCS was in itself a great game? Someone's contradicting himself

Game 5 was better than Game 4 IMHO.

Well, that wouldn't make it a great game. A great game would be a game 5 that went extra innings, regardless of the teams involved. No one talks of your win in 2004 game 7 as a great game. It wasn't, we got bombed. None of the World Series wins in 2004 were great games.

Before Kilo has a brain fart and shows how much of an idiot he is, this doesn't take away from your comeback, and your win in 2004. There is a difference between a great game, and a great game for your team. Big difference.

So what does that make Game 4 and Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS, troll?

Seriously, baseball needs instant replay. Think of the fairness of this. Your team, the Padres, plays the whole season, and loses because of a bad call. It should be 2 out, runner on second. Now if the next guy gets a hit and they lose, fine. Whatever. However, the umpires should not decide the game, which they did in this case. The Atkins ball was not a homerun, but I will give you a judgement call on that one. Holliday CLEARLY did not touch the plate, and should have been out.

Imagine this was game 7, Yankees and Red Sox, same scenario, except that was the tying run, and you guys were down one. The game ends on that. How would you guys feel?

If any of you guys don't agree that baseball needs instant replay, then you lose all credibility if your team gets robbed this post-season.

Great games. Just not as great as those others, *******. Find a fan who agrees with you who isn't a Red Sox fan.

lol I root for a team who's gotten their share of s***** luck over the seasons. I'm used to it.

What do you have? When was the last time the Yanks ever got robbed in the postseason?

The same applies for you dicksmack. No saying "it's just a judgement call" if the Yanks steal another f***ing series.

Hey ****face, what did game 7 of 2003 have that games 4 and 5 didn't have?

The fact that it was Game 7? What f***ing horseshit. All you have said that is required of a great game is sheer drama.

Games 4-6 of the ALCS were great games for that very reason. Nothing gets taken away from them because the Sox spanked the Yanks in Game 7.

Make the argument for instant replay Gom... would've just made the game four innings shorter. I haven't seen the replays but I've heard them described as "inconclusive" -- which in the NFL means, the play stands as called.

What a fantastic game. Great day to be a Rockies fan. Feels good knowing that while the Red Sox may be my team, I've supported the Rockies more than 95% of the people in that stadium tonight have.
