Did I See Pena have a season like that? No - but that is not my job. It was Theo's job to see it and that's why he get paid in millions. I think it is quite fair to bash him.

 

Theo put together the team with the best record in baseball and yet you want to bash him for letting a player go, who was cut by arguably the worst organization in baseball, only to be brought back as a desperation move, and who went on to have a great season. How is this in any way shape or form Theo's fault, when Pena barely made the worst team in the bigs?

 

I do not think Youk generates enough power and OBP for a first baseman irrespective of cost. Remind me again what he has done after the all star break?

 

He's slumped terribly, however he has not been as much of a black hole as some others in the lineup, and his affordable contract allows them to strengthen the team elsewhere.

 

Do we not have the second best payroll in baseball and did we not pay Drew Mega millon money? Feel free to have different opinion.

 

Drew's been pretty bad. I still reserve judgment on him until next year. I would like to see what transitions and adjustments he'll make.

 

Curt - I am not sure what to do. If he is willing to pitch for $8-$9 million - I will keep him because as crazy as it sounds - he is the best starting pitcher free agent available next year.

 

I agree. I don't think Curt will settle for that little.

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but if you are...

 

Was anyone actually at the game (3rd Toronto game)? I read some folks on SOSH talking about being at the game and how the crowd sucked and no one was into the game. I'm just looking to some opinions from anyone who might have gone.

 

See, living in PA, I can't get to Fenway but once in a blue freakin' forever and the thought of going to a game and not getting into it (particularly a close game) seems crazy.

 

Just wondering if anyone has an opinion.
