Ellsbury's power projections may have been low.

In the minors he had hit 10 Hrs total. As Theo had mentioned, this kid has some raw power, which could erupt in the majors

Tonights game will be without both Okajima and Papelbon, Gagne is still out. Timlin will probably get the save opp

Hmm Beckett starting the 8th, top of the order... already at 107 pitches, no one is warming up in the pen. Heres to this panning out

EDIT: Javier Lopez/Timlin warming up now. Papelbon is streching out

The ace shuts down the Blue Jays on 10 pitches, this is where you stand and applaud (not like last night's odd ovation for Dice-K). Beckett went 8 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 Hits, 2 Walks, and 7 Ks. 1 inning and he'll have his major league leading 17th W

I am old enough to remember that Carlton Fisk was supposed to be an excellent receiver but not much of a hitter. When he came to the majors, he set the the place on fire with his bat. No one projected his offensive prowess.

Wow! Where did Youk get the CF power. That's good to see. We need that from him.

It looks like Papelpon will be pitching three days in a row. Tito wants to bury the Yanks. He'll rest his guys later.

When Manny comes back, I'd bench Drew's ass until Ellsbury loses the job. Drew has brought nothing to te table this season. He hasn't hit for average or power. He hasn't hit in the clutch. He has made some terrible fielding plays, and his base running is not good enough to warrant keeping him in the lineup, especially since Ellsbury is way faster.

Yesss Paps shuts the door, 33 saves on the year. 4 game winning streak, Sox look for the sweep with Curt on the mound

Beckett now leads baseball with 17 Wins (new career high), now he is also on the verge of establishing a new career high in Ks. 165 Ks on the season, 2 more to go

Ellsbury, this guy has got to stay in the lineup... Period.

when manny comes back, drew goes to the bench (and hopefully traded to another team in the offseason).

Manny, Coco, and Ellsbury in the outfield

that's the way it should be

This is why you stick through the rough patches with your team. You want to kill them at times, but when the good comes around you deserve to bask in it. They were killing me a few weeks ago, and now they're getting hot again. They're playing unbelievable baseball, like See Red said. Especially those rooks!

The Sox would have to eat at least 3/4th of Drew's contract and find a team that wants him. For now I think he'll start this season with the Sox for 08. Another lackluster year then surely see him packing his bags

I'm sure we'll see at least another year like this, but I'm also sure there will be better years. You can get more for Coco in return anyway and let Ellsbury take over CF. I wouldn't mind that. See what you can get for Crisp, because that's the more likely scenario.

I'm still willing to give Drew through 2008 to produce. And hey, in the rare chance that he becomes the hero of this post-season (I know, let's please just get there first, but I like our odds...), we'll forget all about his struggles during the regular season.

No doubt, thats what Ive been saying since spring training. I was responding to ACL BoSox who said Drew should be traded (or benched) and Ellsbury subplanted as the right fielder. Drew cant be another Renteria. Even though hes been a hack in his 1st year, benefit of the doubt is needed especially with his contract worth more than Ortiz's

the sweep against New York still stings. theyre playing well but its still Baltimore and Toronto in the opposing dugout. maybe the kids are giving the spark the team needs
