This week the college football season is upon us. And it starts off like most every year with Michigan looking to lose early as a preseason top 10. Appalachian State, no that's not a typo, is working them over to the tune of 31-20 halfway through the 3rd quarter.

How can Carr survive this season if they start off losing to a former IAA school?

 I've been watching the VA Tech - E. Carolina game, and I can't believe what I'm seeing with the Michigan game.

I'm also very surprised that the VT game is so close. 10-7 VT near the end of the 3rd. Did anyone get to see the Hokies pre-game? I've never gotten so many goosebumps in my life. When they ran out of the tunnel, I thought the game was in my living room. It was deafening. Good for them. Today, God's a Hokies fan.

I'm PUMPED for the Wake Forest - BC game. Can't wait. I really think it's BC's year to take the ACC.

I watched the pregame of the Va Tech game. It was nice. The game didn't interest me much in the short time I watched it, though. Then I ended up finding the Colorado State/Colorado game on FSN so I'm watching that. The problem with the opening weekend of the college football season is that there's so much buildup and so few good matchups.

CU sucks and I couldn't be happier about it!

I need CSU to keep their head (no more running into the kicker), and hold this lead. I've got them in an office weekly Confidence Pick'em pool that is season long. I only assigned it a 1 of 10 confidence score, but every point counts.

Mike Hart just went 54 yds to give the Maize and Blue their first lead since the 1st quarter, 32-31. I would imagine this has to be a 2 point attempt after the touchdown.

EDIT: 2-point PAT failed

Armanti Edwards, the App St. QB, just committed his 3rd TO of the 2nd half with a pick. That's a shame.

50 seconds left at the Mich 29. 32-31, Mich had the ball inside the 20, anyone know how App. St. got the ball? Missed FG?

EDIT: At the 5 with 30 seconds left!!

Eh, the offense looked terrible against GT last year. They'll be fine. Keep in mind that the Georgia Tech defense is extremely good.

I think they started Demetrius Jones for a couple reasons... the fact that Notre Dame didn't name their QB until late made Tech prepare for each of them -- and I think a mobile QB is probably what Weis figured they were least prepared for. Also, Weis probably figured that starting Jones might allow them to exploit GT's speed and aggressiveness. I just started watching but obviously it doesn't look like it's working.

Ugh... fumble. His second of the game?

this kid at QB is f***ing putrid. Demetrious Jones sucks. BRING IN CLAUSSEN

I think playing a true freshman against this defense would have disaster written all over it. Then again, the current arrangement doesn't appear to be working either...

but if your defense is based upon speed and instead of smashmouth football or pocket passing, the offense comes at you with option QB s***, you are essentially playing to their strength. I'd think we could have Claussen throw the ball to the receivers and then smash it up the middle with Thomas or Aldridge.

Not necessarily... if the defense is being aggressive then there's nobody in the second level to stop the QB if he finds a seem up the middle and takes off.

I'd pity any true freshman that has to step in there against this defense. I'd have gone with the Junior QB, personally, though I'm not sure of his name.

edit: It's going to be a long season in South Bend.
