With hours to go before the Sept 1 deadline for post season rosters, The afternoon hosts on WEEI were talking about the Sox acquiring Kevin Millar. He is a righhanded bat, which is needed and he may be the spark this team needs to get going. With another year left on his contract, I'm sure he's already cleared waivers.

i think they were joking. With that said though I would love to have him back, he would bring that attitude that is lacking, as long as he's ok not playing everyday

Say what you want about Millar, he's having a much better year than Drew. All I ever hear is stuff like 'the sox don't show emotion', 'no attitude', ect... Millar would def fix that, and injecting some life into this clubhouse couldn't hurt. With all that said, i don't think it will happen

I can't believe anyone thinks this is a good idea.

This is Kevin freakin' Millar people. His skillset is that of an old Kevin Youkilis, and we have way too many old-man skilled players on our team right now.

f*** it' date=' do it. he might give this team a little spice cause they were f***ing zombies in New York[/quote']

What's he gunna do, wear a dress?

His skillset isn't going to spice up anything. Unless they're bringing him back as a bench coach (meaning he can't possibly hurt us with his bat, legs, or glove), it wouldn't be too bad. Then he could only hurt us with his mouth.

The Yankees played better baseball, plain and simple. It sucks, but bringing back KFM ain't gunna help.

People are acting like we got destroyed in NY, too.

We lost by 2, 1 and 5 runs respectively. And the third game was competitive until the 8th.

We lost close games to a desperate team in their house without Manny. Why the hand wringing?

and if millar would have been on the team it would have been the same result . so whats the point?

I can handle the loss in the 1st game, that was a back and forth tilt that went New York's way. But the last 2 games weren't nearly as close as the scores indicated, we couldn't hang with them

Losing by one run means we can't hang with them?

Going into the 8th down two means we can't hang with them?

I'm confused, is your definition of "hanging with them" winning the game, or keeping it close? Keep in mind we swept them in Fenway in three close games in April.

Face it, the Sox and Yanks are two very evenly matched teams. They lead the season series 8-7. I think we've actually done a very good job of "hanging with them".

basically, what im trying to say is during the last 2 games, at no point did I feel like the team had any shot of coming back, regardless of how small the defecit actually was. they just seemed like they wanted nothing more than to get the hell out of New York and go back to pounding the AAAA clubs from Tampa, Chicago and Baltimore

christ, even when Joba was punking Youk, all he did was turn back and cry to the ump like a little kid does in the playground to a teacher. no fire at all. on the Red Sox side, this series will be remembered for Youk running away from A-Rod like he was trying to put a worm on him, Joba punking Youk and Tito bitching cause some guy checked to see he was wearing his uni

That's unfortunate. Did you know this team already has as many come from behind wins as 2004 and 2005? I liked the way those seasons ended (in the playoffs) rather than the comeback crazy season last year.

If you didn't feel they had a shot to come back, that's too bad. I'm positive they didn't share that feeling.

They played three competitive games at the tail end of a ten game road trip, against a team built for Yankee Stadium IN Yankee Stadium that were desperate for wins. And yet, they come out of the series still 5 GAMES AHEAD.

The Sox vs. Contenders this season:

NYY (7-8)

LAA (6-4)

SEA (4-5)

DET (3-4)

CLE (5-2)

Record - 25-23

You wouldn't be upset if someone was throwing 98 at your head? What did you want him to do, charge the mound and get suspended?

on the Red Sox side, this series will be remembered for Youk running away from A-Rod like he was trying to put a worm on him

Or trying to avoid the double play, whatever works for you.

Joba punking Youk

This did happen, yes. But DiceK hit Arod.

and Tito bitching cause some guy checked to see he was wearing his uni

The timing of this was questionable at best and Tito had a legit beef.

The reaction Manny had to Clemens in the '03 ALCS would've worked for me

I see your point with everything you said and if I was thinking clearly, I'd probably agree with most of what you're saying but this entire series got me very upset.

I'm not thrilled about Millar, but with a team that is short on righthanded hitting and doesn't do well against lefties some move should be tried.

The failure to make the Dye trade seems bigger everyday.

MILLAR WOULD BRING ENERGY TO THE CLUBHOUSE WHICH RESULTS IN LIKE 60 EXTRA WINS FOR THE CLUBHOUSE AND HE WOULD TELL MANNY TO PLAY BETTER AND HE WOULD BECAUSE MILLAR TOLD HIM TOO AND THEN TITO WOULD SMILE BECAUSE LIKES MILLAR ALOT AND SO DOES DICE K WHO HEARS FROM THE MEDIA THAT MILLAR IS A STAND UP GUY!!!
