I'm saying Wang, Clemens, and Pettite being backed by the Yankee lineup is better than Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Schilling backed by our lineup.

Of course it all depends...if we hit like we did in the ChiSox series...we can hit with any team ever created. Unfortunately, that's been the exception rather than the rule.

hard to argue with that, but offensively, we're at a peak right now as opposed to a valley so let's ride it

Pitching. Any confidence I have right now all boils down to pitching. We seem to have it and they seem not to.

For me, the eternal pessimist, it's not over, but I have to say I am cautiously optimistic.

If the Sox take 2 of 3....then split the next series with the Yankees THEN I will say its over. Ive been following this team for a pretty long time.......and to think its over this soon is a bad thing. If they build up a 10-12 game lead with 25 or so games to play....then its over. With 30+ games left to play.....lets be cautious.

I won't count out the Yanks until we are slipping on the Division Champs T-Shirts. But I won't say I'm not enjoying the lead and ride this team has provided for us this season.

I also like our big 3 being backed up by the best bullpen in baseball to hold the lead

Cautiously optimistic? As opposed to irrational exhuberance? Do you have any market picks for me, Mr. Greenspan?

(actually, having my childhood nearly destroyed in 1978 has also left me forever "cautiously optomistic")

PS - Even Coach Nosehair has the Sox in '07

Yes Yaz, Coach Nosehair has already predicted that the Sox win it all...he's a Cards/Yankee (right...huh?) fan and he's trying to use that reverse psychology on us Sox fans to get us overconfident, have us make some over-exuberant comments, so that he can bust our balls later if they don't win a title. I don't fall for that sh*t, I never get over-confident and I certainly won't express my thoughts if I do believe the Sox are on track to win it, not to little fkers like that guy.

On a similar note, my wife had a deck party with some people she works with last week. We were keeping an eye/ear on the Sox game and the Yanks game, and the Yanks were losing. Someone there says, pretty innocently, "wow the Yankees are struggling for a team that has that much talent."

A Yankee fan there immediately starts..."yeah we have 28 WS wins and you have one" (I chuckled at the 28 to 1 thing...gotta say it was original) and starts just blasting the Red Sox fans saying Sox fans are always starting stuff, but the Sox never win anything, he brought up Bucky and Babe Ruth and all that sh*t. Poor fker got all worked up, red in the face, and when done everyone just started laughing at him...he wasn't the same the rest of the evening!

I said "Dude...it's a game...it's fkn entertainment...relax."

Man, bringing up Bucky and Babe Ruth....ancient history and very weak come backs. Did anyone bring up 2004 ALCS? Doesn't sound like it was necessary as he made an ass out of himself as it was.

No, VA, no one said a word...just let him go on his rant then laughed when he was done.

I'll be at the game tonight. I wonder how much team gear will be safe to wear? I'm thinking of leaving the team jersey I got for Christmas from the kids at home, some of their fans are complete tools.

Good luck w/ your choice about the jersey, I'd say faaack 'em but I've never experienced Yankee stadium.

Enjoy the game!

I am going to game tomorrow and will wear Red Sox hat. I have done that in the last series and there were no problems. Also - I was all by myself among other Yankee fans.

You will be shocked to see how many people have Red Sox jersies.

Can't wait to see Becket vs Roger .

From what I have heard (i haven't been there) it really depends on where you sit. If your stuck in the middle of a bunch of drunks in the cheap seats then look out

It's over. I'm a Yankee fan, and the division race is over. The Wild Card is still in play, and we are the only thing that can derail your trip to the World Series, and you know it.

I think you may be right Gom. The division is done. The wild card is in our grasp as I think Detroit and Seattle dont have the gusto to make a big run (I think Seattle's big run is through), and I also think that we have the stuff to take down the sox. But, assuming we do win the WC, we get Anaheim in anaheim to start, and that will suck donkeyballs. If the sox dont have to face us in the playoffs, then they are home free to the world series.

Gauging the state of anything by BDD's headlines is a bad move.

I think we can hold them off. Time is not a luxury the Yanks have right now.

Reverse psychology mojo?

If last night is any indication.....the division is not completely over. Yankees still have 6 games head to head with Boston, and taking 2 outta 3 from Boston could give them a little motivational juice to put together a little win streak.

... but only a game in the standings. 7 down with 28 (?) left would take more than a little win streak, especially given the Sox schedule from here on out.

the yanks need to sweep , 2 of 3 still puts them 7 back with 28 games .

tonight is the one we gotta win. I dont trust Schilling tomorrow at all

I like Schilling in a big game. Wang has been getting hit around recently and we seem to hit him well.

I don't care which game they win, they just have to win one of them. Well, tomorrow's the one they have to win now. I'm saving my energy until after the game tomorrow. A win and I'll be satisfied with this series. A loss and I'll be pissed.

Even if the yankees win tomorrow, there shouldnt be much doubt. Aside from the 3 games in Boston, the sox really dont have a tough series. And aside from 3 against Boston and 3 against Seattle, the yankees have a cake schedule too. Both should cruise into the playoffs with the sox winning the east.

ALTHOUGH, I think the sox may be better served as the wild card and we'd be better served as the East winners. The sox own the angels and we own the Guardians.

Yeaa Im sure youre reasoning for the Sox is better as the wild card, is because they own the angels  ;)

I am not worried about the division. I just don't see this team going to the world series with this offence. It was the most pathetic offensive performance I have ever seen in the Yankee stadium. Too bad white sox will not make the play-offs otherwise we could have scored 10 runs in each game.

I'm still pretty confident. The reason you build a lead up to 8 games going into a crucial series such as this one is so that you can cushion the blow should a sweep occur. That's exactly what happened here, and I'm still not concerned. We have a pretty easy schedule, so I'm not worried about anything.

The Yankees winning the wild card and then going to Anaheim would be very entertaining, if I do say so myself.
