Good move, IMO. I was the first to say that this wouldn't happen. I was wrong. My only thing with it for you guys, is that you REALLY gave up alot of players, but it was potential, and Ainge has been shooting for players that are now, and not building for down the line. So at least he was consistent.

This makes the Celtics the contenders for the East, hell I hope so, I'm sick of hearing about LeBron (a feeling, I'm SURE I'm in the minority about). But I really don't see them beating any of the top 3 teams (Phoenix, Dallas, and the Spurs) from the West. Your depth took a HUGE hit with this trade. But this is a great trade, and like Crespo said, at least it'll sell out 41 home games and 2 playoff home games (with a possibility for more).

I think this team could win a series against one of the top three teams in the west. It is probably unlikely, however, it is going to be really hard to shut down Allen, Pierce, and Garnett. This team could realisticly win a championship this year. I really think that they need to go out and sign and Breven Knight, and a P.J. Brown which is also realistic. If those two steps are taken the Celtics will be a very legitimate title contender. I am really freaking excited for the NBA season to begin. (Never thought I would say that)

On a side note' date=' how happy is david stern right now that the focus of the media on the NBA is this trade and not the mob fixing scandal.[/quote']

Yeah, and also this is huge for the NBA because they really need an East coast market to be a team in contention. The suckiness of the 76ers, Celtics and Knicks over the last years have really hurt the NBA's popularity. It will be really intresting to see how the City of Boston reacts to their team. I for one will make sure to try to visit the Garden a few times this year.

Someone mentioned Brevin Knight and I've been talking about him for a long time. If no one wants to give him a ridiculous (by his standards) contract, I'm hoping we can get him for the MLE.

So how bad has the bandwagon jumping been in Boston today?

Watch as the NBA Thread will be booming this year, much unlike last.

I'd like to say that I am poor. I run a Teen Center, have 3 kids of my own, and struggle to pay the bills. Each year since I was a kid I manage to get to at least 10 Celtics game per year. 3 or which I get free via the Celtics in which I bring 24 people to a game and meet a player ect. I sure hope we can still get those free tickets. I'm so happy for people that didn't give up on the Celtics. I do understand why people stopped watching the games. The NBA as a hole has not been all that great. I watch about 70 games per year on TV, but I rarely saw the 4th quarter.

Blah Blah Blah, it's late and I'm excited!!! Ray Allen is and has been my favorite player. KG has been a player that I've thought is top 3 in the NBA for awhle and now they are on our team. It should be a fun year.

great quote from Ray Allen

"This is a proud franchise," Allen said. "I remember going back to the days when this organization battled against the Lakers. Every time they came in here they were afraid to walk into the Garden. I think those are the days we're going back to here. For them to walk in this building and have something to be afraid of."

and kind of a random fact, but i guess KG is a bit of a Red Sox fan and has alot of Sox hats.

I Live in Europe, and get no Celtic games:( When I was growing up in Maine tho I followed every game. Then I moved to FL and they didn't really cover the C's unless they were in Miami or Orlando. But I always looked for then in Sportcenter, Standings, trade talks, Draft day stuff. Have I follwed them like I use to? No, but I do consider myself a fan, But not in the class of you guys, I have alot to earn there.

Just because I haven't posted about the Celtics many times on Talk Sox doesn't mean I haven't watched a lot of sucky, sucky basketball over the last three years.

Pretty bad, basically all of my friends are wearing C's jerseys todays, im sticking with my Suns though, KG or no KG.

i think i am jumping on. i wont buy a jersey just because i dont really wear the football or baseball jerseys i have and why show off the fact that i'm just getting on the celtics now. i will watch a few games this season though which i have never been able to do. i've tried but i cant even get to halftime.

in my own defense the best celtic team i've ever seen is 'tione and pierce and i've never liked basketball as a sport period. maybe this new Celtic team can change that, i would like a winter sport to watch other than football every sunday.

I've been in Chicago for the past few days so I didn't have a chance to come on here when the trade happened so here are my thoughts:

First of all, great trade. I'm still amazed that we turned all of our largest contracts into all-star players who are actually worth the money rather than players like Wally, Theo, Raef, or Blount holding huge contracts. This trio will be an outstanding force in the eastern conference and I never would have imagined that our youth could be exhanged for such a combination of stars. We are in for some great basketball for the next few years and it's all but guaranteed that this team has what it takes to make a splash in the eastern conference playoffs and maybe even the NBA Finals if this team really gels.

Many people talk about how much we gave up...I disagree.

Al Jefferson will be good...not great. He isn't the next Moses Malone or Kevin Garnett. I see him as being a Chris Webber/Jermaine O'Neal type player if he stays healthy and continues to develop but he will never be Garnett.

Gerald Green is the next Kedrick Brown. I can just tell that Danny and Doc were waiting to get rid of him and I don't think he'll ever amount to the T-Mac hype that koolaid drinking fans were throwing around.

Ryan Gomes is a solid player but will be a bench player on a good team. He'll never be a superstar.

Sebastian Telfair is an undersized point guard who still has a chance to develop but the defining moment in his career will most likely be when he decided to go pro rather than join Rick Pitino in the NCAA.

Theo Ratliff is just a contract and nothing more. Consider him finished.

Kevin Garnett will team up with Pierce and Allen to form an unbelievable trio and as KG put it, "a force to be reckoned with".

By the way, the only negative in this whole situation is the fact that the days of buying a $20 or $30 ticket and moving down towards the floor are over...and the garden will fill up with the same bandwagon fans that went into hibernation the past two seasons. For the record, I've been a fan throughout the whole painful journey to this moment and whether you agree with me or not on some issues, you know I've been here this whole way.

True celtics fans, the days of the draft lottery and seeing players like Oriene Greene or Wally Szczerbiak with the ball in their hands in the clutch are over...we have ourselves a contender.

The Allen trade on draft day was a give/take move that you really couldn't praise Ainge for. This' date=' as a complimentary move to that, has made it so that Ainge has had one hell of an offseason. Pierce, Allen, and KG in the same lineup? Not bad.[/quote']

Ainge upgraded Wally S. to Ray Allen with the #5 pick and West. That is a great move whether the C's landed KG or not. An even better move considering KG ended up here, and never was too fond of Wally, LOL.

I'm not saying it wasn't an upgrade, I just question the price paid. And, yes, Ainge deserves serious credit for the sequence of events considering KG wanted no part of coming to Boston prior to the Allen trade. Kudos to Danny.

ainge saved his job and took our odds from 50-1 to 7-2 to win the east.

he did mortgage the entire future of this team but we are a 50 win team on paper and a legit contender to make the nba finals for real

i dont have any reservations about this deal but there are some things to consider

garnett is a great ballplayer but has never won

allen is a great shooter but has never won in the nba

pierce is a great ball player who hasnt won anything in college or the pros

these men are now in their 30s and have legged some huge minutes over the years

we dont know how they will play together.

the big mystery is who we will put around these guys

will baby davis be good enuff to make an impact as a power forward in this league??

leon poe had some moments last year that showed hes capable of being a decent role player, how about the point??

who is going to feed these 3 guys who will expect 20 touches a game?

too bad billups resigned with detroit, add him into the fold and now we got a legit pop to shoot the sherbert

4 of my friends bought season tix yesterday

the last time i went they played philly over the winter and we're down 37-28 with 2 to play in the 1st half

my kid fell asleep,my dad was pissed i got him off his chair and the entire crowd looked like the cast from YO RAPS,complete with bling and loud cell phone discussions.

it was f***ing disgraceful

i think things will be a lot different this year, thank christ they matter again

Yeah we have. And you won't be hearing any bandwagon comments coming from me YH213. You're the farthest from it.

Hell yeah dude! I mean, he woulda been nice but we didn't NEED him. We are so f***ing close as it is. I'm ALWAYS excited for NBA season. I plan on hitting opening night again, and f***ing yelling my head off like always. B)

There are only a couple of teams that have done so, but name the teams that have rebuilt their teams without making a big move like this.... I know it's hard.

That is why I love this move. Rebuilding doesn't work 97% of the time. I believe that this move does not only help us now, but in the future as well. Good players normally don't want to come to bad teams. We have a real chance at good free agents now and in the future.

The Boston Celtics will be a good team for the next 10 years at least.

Bandwagon jumping NO. People that used to like the Celtics and gave up on them. I can't blame them. I gave up on them too, I still watched, but did indeed gave up. They sucked. It's so good to know that not only will we be good for a long time, but that we will get back those lost fans from the past to support OUR Boston Celtics.

Explain this.

I like the move, but I feel the C's have a three year window at most.

Ya that sounds about right . Just remember KG is not a down low presence so ray you gotta free him up .

KG is not a downlow presence...?...thats news to me.
